Paley’s Recommended Stretches (Femur)
« on: March 25, 2019, 05:30:53 PM »

Hey guys,

So, I have been reading through Paley’s FAQs document and came across the “what can I do to prepare for surgery?” section.

For the Femur, there are three recommended stretches (copied and pasted):

1) iliotibial band; lie on your side, extend your hip so your thigh is in line with your body and flex your knee. In that position, try and bring the flexed knee towards the ground. Also, you can do cross-leg stretches with the hip straight. These stretch the IT band.

2) quadriceps and especially the rectus femoris muscle (bend knee with straightening of hip at the same time. Can be done standing while pulling foot behind butt and leaning back or kneeling with leaning back).

3) Hamstrings: knee straightening while flexing hip.

I’ve put these up so others can see what stretches may be helpful, but also, I have some questions:

Can anyone explain how the first stretch is performed? Is it any of the exercises that this dude is demonstrating, ?

Also, for Paley’s last stretch, I could probably find many stretches for hamstrings, but what does he specifically mean? Is it any of the stretches that this guy is demonstrating ?

I don’t mean to sound stup id and I could probably find many stretches, but I really want to do the exact ones that he’s recommending.

Thanks guys!
