Is arm lengthening as dangerous as leg lengthening?
« on: November 21, 2018, 08:26:50 PM »

I might do arm lengthening but am afraid I won't be able to move my arms again. For those who lengthened their arms what is a safe amount?

I've always read that 1.5 inches or 4cm is pretty good. You can only lengthen the humerus and as far as I know the forearm is too risky.

Yeh I agree I can't think of a single surgeon that does forearm lengthening.  However, humerus lengthening should in principle be less risky than leg lengthening - it is not a support limb and therefore there is little or no load on it - provided you don't do any heavy lifting or try to push anything heavy.  Precice is good enough or even an external fixator - though the scarring may be less acceptable.

the bigger problem i've found with humerus lengthening is that it will make ur forearms look even smaller if they are which they are in short statures.

I doubt if people will notice - but one might be paranoid that they will.  I am sure if I was presented with pictures of people who have and have not performed humerus lengthening I wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless the amount lengthened was greater than 30% of the original.  Even when they are wearing t-shirts.

Does anyone here know the typical ratio between forearm and humerus? It's a rough estimate, but I think my humerus is 13.5-14 inches and my forearm is about 12 inches long.

There are a couple of pictures of IamReady's arms after lengthening on this page:

Had I not known of his arm lengthening and unless someone told me I would have never known.

Only some surgeons can do this surgery without complications. Too risky. Arms don't support your weight but surgeons have less experience doing this and so more dangerous

Isn't it typical for women to have negative wingspans? If its already pretty far in the red LL could make you look like a freak.

I dont know if there any ''typical women'' but what I do know is that my wingspan currently is equivalent to my height at the moment. But Im saying after I do CLL my wingspan will be shorter. But I just dont care.
