Cosmetic Toe Lengthening
« on: September 27, 2018, 07:47:26 AM »

Has anyone run into the problem of, (or know of some one who has),  decreased balance post lengthening, (tibias, femurs, or both), in part due to already having small feet and/or short toes prior to their CLL.

I have this issue.  I'm all torso, my limbs are similar to an average person 4-6 inches shorter than me,  and my feet are the same as maybe some one 2-4 inches shorter.

I'm still unfortunately in the process of saving for CLL however the balance aspect post lengthening due to having shorter feet and toes has me me thinking as I have seen many US surgeons advertise quite a bit to lengthening a short toe, however it's usually just a toe or two that isn't as long as the other(s).

I emailed 3 docs about my possible dilemma, and surprise, surprise, they would not want to operate on me.  I'm not gun ho on getting a multitudes of surgeries, but it has me thinking.

Anyone ever have, or know of someone who has had a similar experience or issue?

Hi,
I am a 22 years woman and I am insecure about my feet as well, in essence I have same problem as you. My feet are very small compared to my body's height (158cm/5'3"), my feet being only size 36eu/5us. I plan to go through legs lenghtening which will leave my feet look like a joke. I would not mind to lenghten my feet to feel comfortably mentally, but I can't find info about this kind of procedures being done for cosmetic reasons. Just like you said, only toes lenghtening. It makes me depressed.

MissLuna,

I think I might have gotten lucky so to speak.  Dr. Salameh does do this procedure per his respinse back to me. I'm not sure of specifics, but you can always shoot him an email.  He has been very nice and informative in all my emails with him.

Yes Dr Salameh does have some excellent experience in deformity correction and I can well expect this to be usable for cosmetic purposes.  He even has a modified version of his fixator for toe lengthening as can be seen on this page:

He really needs a more professional web page as I think his current one does not do him justice.

I heard, and it's true since people with acromegaly get bigger feet by growth hormone, so I wonder if doctor agreed to prescribe me growth hormone treatment ?

yes it's true but you'd have to take high dosages for extended periods of time. It would not only take its toll on your wallet but also your health as acromegaly is a condition that enlarges organs as well.

Could be interesting, but getting a procedure done to go from a size 11 shoe to a 12 or 13 doesn't sound worth. Also don't women prefer to have small feet? I've seen women become very insecure because their feet are too big.

Well hopefully you'll find someone who's willing to do it cosmetically.

What I know is that finger lenghtening is not performed for cosmetic reasons, simply because there is risk that procedure will leave your fingers stiff and less functional.

I can understand how some people would want to have finger lengthening done, but I honestly can't see any doctor, any where ever trying it.

In my case for toe lengthening surgery, if it's not necessary, than I would be very happy.  However, I have toes that are definitely on the shorter side which contribute to me having to do more balance exercises in my work outs to compensate.  Ie; in regards to exercises, I can't can't do mountain climbers or planks without shoes on, the correlation of short limbs and toes just makes it impossible.

Of course this is just an annoyance, but combining that with smaller ankle joints, and calves, but bigger and bulker bones and muscles everywhere else, and put however many cms on to my natural height post CLL, it can be easily be postulated that my balance would suffer more.

So any additional toe lengthening to offset with LE lengthening would be helpful, obviously w/n safe limits, in relation how much was lengthened with my LEs,(as much as safely possible), and only if necessary...as my theories on my body could be wrong.

Hi ggg and MissLuna

I understand your feeling of unhappy toes.  However, lengthening anything is not a trivial thing.  It is really demanding, risky, and super painful, not to mention high price.  Toes and fingers can be done in theory.  However, as I said, lengthening is not a joke.  Those toe and finger lengthenings are done only for serious defects NOT for cosmetic purpose.  If any doctor does this for cosmetic purpose, that is simply not a doctor anymore.  Please forget about lengthening your fingers or toes unless they are obviously defected or deformed.
