Hi guys,
Here is my plan of getting a LL. Please hear me out and let me know what you think.
I am a early 20s yr old Asian male who wants to get LL done so my standing height would be bump from 5'5 to 5'8 (3 inches on femur from Dr. Rozbruch hopefully, and hopefully that's all I ever needed since I wear ~1in shoes that should put me at 5'9 in the public, which is quite okay for Asian I would think..
I live and work in NYC with my parents, and I can pay for the surgery with Dr. Rozbruch in a year or two (three is more realistic i would guess, but whatever) in the coming future, but I do not want to wait at all as many of us would want to get taller immediately!
So I think I will get a loan (I have a good credit rating of 750 currently!)
I have started to contact the doctor via email, and my plan is I will get LL done hopefully at beginning of the next year with my saving and most likely with a loan once I learn about STRYDE nail being fully functional at his practice, since I read that STRYDE nail should allow the patient to walk unaided in 3 or 4 weeks, which is also the maximum period I intend to leave my job and return back to work soon after (Anyway do have to consult with the doctor regarding the possibility of this of course.)
Also I am guessing that my company insurance will cover parts of the surgery as well (I have cigna hdhp now but I can always contact my company to switch to HMO or whatever if needed?), as I have also read through stories of other LL-er who did get insurance coverage with Dr. Rozbruch surgery that nearly cut the total cost by half
!? I actually think I have a valid reason to get some insurance coverage on this surgery as I have mild thalassemia since birth, which more or less, do stunt and slow growth to certain extents, but again, would have to contact the doctor directly for more details regarding insurance. I would say I am very comfortable paying 50~60k by myself if I am lucky to have insurance coverage on the surgery but one can only hope...
I have been raised by traditional Asian parents who works hard and saves up money for down payment for a house or whatever necessary in life so I am sure this news will be extremely upsetting to them, since I will be "wasting" money for this surgery from their standards. I am hoping that they can sponsor some portion of costs (even 10k is not bad...) as otherwise I would just have to get a bigger loan and pay bigger interests (or worse, postpone longer in order to amass my saving) but at this moment I am not even sure how I should tell them about this without them getting angry or upset at me... Regardless of their support, I do want to get the surgery done as soon as possible. So this is my plan so far. Anything I should do different or better ?
Thanks all for listening to me!
