Dr. Kohne (Munich, Germany)
« on: August 16, 2018, 05:28:31 PM »

His name is Dr Köhne in Munich. He will be one of the first 5 doctors to get STRYDE worldwide and has been using Precice for a number of years now. I went for a consultation with him a couple of weeks ago with another potential LL’er and he answered all of our questions adequately.  I will be writing a journal soon and hope to be able to keep it up throughout as many LL vets have done before me.

Petite888, based soley on this quote from you, this doctor sounds shady. There are already far more than 5 doctors located just in the United States alone who now offer STRYDE, so him claiming to be one of the first 5 in the world is already false. That's not a good start.

What are his credentials in regards specifically to limb lengthening? Both for medical & cosmetic reasons.

Hi Leggs,

Wow, so quick to judge and put a doctors reputation on the line by 1 quote!

I’m not too sure of the doctors whom you refer to in the USA who already use. I know only of 1 that definitely has used it and maybe another 2 whom it may be available to in the USA.  However, It’s entirely possible that I misquoted or misunderstood him, being human, excited at my consultation and also trying to take in everything else he was trying to fit in, in the 2 or so hours I spent with him. I believe he may have said first 5 “when” it is released world wide.

His credentials? I believe he has been using Precice for a number of years now, and according to him, has perform ~300 LL surgeries and ~50 of them CLL.  He is a trauma surgeon first and foremost. If you look up his reviews online and use google translate, then you will see that they are excellent.  I will post I diary up on here when I arrive in Munich for my surgery, but please, in the meantime, please refrain from making such quick judgements and accusations unless you have done the research or have some evidence to back up what you are saying. It could be harmful to a good doctors career.....🙂

I am rather excited. We need more precice docs and more importantly, we need competition amongst high-end doctors which we don't have many of.
Looking forward to your diary petite888

Hi PAG,

So when I went for my consultation, I went with one other potential LL’er who is male.  The interesting thing is even through his cortices looked much thicker then mine (darn strong boned males!!), my (cavity, is that the right word? Brains not working!) was actually bigger than his. So doc measured my cavity to be 10mm and his cavity to be around 7.5mm so I will actually have less reaming....yay!!  Doc recommended 10mm nail for both of us.

I'm also interested in this nail as I'm german and I don't want to travel to the us or another country. I prefer this nail over Dr. Betz's
@Petite888 Can you please keep us updated?

P.S. How much did you pay for the consultation? Was it covered by the insurance or not (the consultation only)?

I visited him too. He is a very friendly doctor. Consultation fee is 500 € including xrays.
He said to me he will get new Precice in novembre but some people say the Stryde has no EU-CE marking yet. Takes some time till offical release in Europe I guess.

Yes only internal. His prices are similar to Dr. Betz. Prices include re-surgery but shorter stay in hospital.

Thanks TinyL !

I think it all breaks down to; would you feel safe doing femur lengthening with Koehne?

I have also had consultation.
Btw its 40 minutes outside of Munich.

A great guy. Took xray. Taught me streching excericises.

Prices are like Betz. But this includes nail removal.
Also he offered me insurance for 500 eur which would cover the costs of complications if they should occur!

that is really nice. Dont think you can find a better deal for Stryde anywhere else.

what makes this really attractive option is with Stryde you may be allowed to go home and lengthen. By no means immediately, but I think if everything is okay after first two x-rays. Callus growing, no stiffness, then maybe :)

Does Köhne do both femurs in one surgery, or does he only do one leg at the time?

I read somewhere that Dr. Köhne worked with Dr. Baumgart first who is known to be experienced.
Also for Germans the consultation costs can be paid by your health insurance. Just ask the doctor.

Dont think you can find a better deal for Stryde anywhere else.

I also considered Dr. Köhne but Dr. Giotikas' offer is cheaper.

If you don't even know when LL is done, it is done bilaterally maybe you should do plenty more research before considering doing it in the first place.

Thanks to Great321 for letting everyone know that Dr. Giotikas offers a more affordable price.

I wonder if anyone who plans on having surgery with Dr. Kohne will actually tell us his price or if they will continue to use vague phrases "similar to Betz" or "like Betz"

Always interesting when prospective patients use words like "you can't find a better deal anywhere else", or that same prospective patient sets up a chat group promoting this particular doctor.

The last quote definitely caught my attention....

Dont think you can find a better deal for Stryde anywhere else.

Betz office told me 52 000 euro for his betzbone.

If you ask me this is crazy. This whole operation does never ever cost that much. They just want money

I think Dr Kohne deserves a proper thread like other doctors with information about the doctor and procedure in first post.
