Sick of hearing you don’t need to do LL
« on: June 28, 2018, 04:02:14 PM »

Ok so many of us on this forum all have the same goal we want to be taller I’ve seen ppl on this forum as short as 5’0 wanting to go through with ll and seen ppl as tall as 5’11 wanting to do it and while there is a lot of support shown to these people on both sides you always get a few who say no you don’t need to lengthen go do something else etc well if that’s the case why do they believe they deserve to and a taller person doesn’t,
There are more then a few reasons why people might want to do ll even if their on the taller side me for example I’m 5’10 with 3 brothers who range from 6’2-6’4.5 and even have sisters who are like 5’8-5’9 this is my reason for wanting LL because I feel like an outcast I got so depressed about it one time I ever started to believe I was either adopted or my mom had an affair which led to me, which after I questioned to them directly we had blood test come back and proved I wasn’t adopted nor was my theory about an affair true.

What makes this even worse is the fact that I’ve got tall siblings and a tall father my potential children could out grow me big time which doesn’t help the feeling of depression related to height go away. Also if your curious to know my dad is 6’1 and my mom is 5’7

None of that reasons is serious enough to do LL at your height.
But don't try to convince anyone, it is your personal choice and you don't have to apologize to anyone about that.
In all that cases I just say that the risks and long term effects of LL don't justify a so crucial surgery but if someone feels really bad about himself and is comoletely sure that height is the main reason then yes, he should do LL.

Thank you for actually looking at the bigger picture with the whole LL thing and not just being one of those guys who basically says this or that you actually have a good view on this kind of thing

Because of scenarios you made up in your head about your mom visiting the milk man justifies you sawing your bones in half to grow a few CM? Do you think your parents love you less because you are a couple inches shorter than your siblings? Your family would be more devistated by you doing LL than by you staying your height.

You can be sick and tired of hearing it all you want, doesn’t make it any less retarded. You don’t need LL at 5’10”.

The reason people say this to you is that most of the people who even consider LL or post on boards like these are people who are actually short and have faced a lifetime of discrimination and oppression because of it.

There is a world of difference between being physically and emotionally attacked and humiliated, passed over for jobs or promotions, unable to attract sxxual partners (what happens to actual short men), and developing a neurosis about being the "runt of the litter" of your family (what happened to you). You are not short anywhere on Earth except maybe a few select European countries with relatively small populations (Denmark, Montenegro, etc). To the overwhelming majority of the rest of the world's population, you are either average height or tall.

Nobody has the right or authority to tell you what to do or not do with your life, but the reality of the matter is your "problems", compared to my and the problems of most actually short men, are laughable non-problems and absolutely ludicrous justifications for spending hundreds of thousands of dollars and years of recovery on a painful, potentially life-threatening, athletically crippling, literally deforming surgery.

Like bodybuilder said: Do whatever you want. You don't need to justify your actions to anyone. But don't expect people with actual problems to sympathize or support your decision.

I agree with what you said bro and I kinda see where the other guy racurz is coming from with feeling short it probably isn’t really that nice of a feeling but I can agree with what you have said based on the whole thing about being laughed and ridiculed about your height and I’m sure a lot of people would give anything to be 5’10 but on the other hand would you really like to be surrounded by giants I suppose it’s also one of those there’s good then there’s better 5’10 good 6’0+ is better

Remember guys we all want the same thing here we all want to be taller who cares about the reasons I tend to believe that a small community that the LL community is we should stick together

It’s not my thoughts it’s the truth. You want people to encourage and be validated by the community so you can feel good about making the decision at your already good height.

For most people here it is a pipe dream to be 5’10” AND have their athletic ability 100%. You are not going to get any pats on the back or sympathy rubs over your sob stories that pale in comparison to people with actual problems.

You are taller than virtually everyone here. Of corse you can do it and hopefully it goes well but at your height, you face no obstacles, so chances are it won’t fix your deeply rooted issues. As there are none.

Unfortunately bro you can’t really do anything about him wanting it I agree with everything you said 100% but nothing we say can really persuade people who are determined to do something as extreme as LL like you said hopefully it goes well and he recovers but his height will lead to a vary touchy subject on this forum and actually could divide the community

We understand. I try empathizing always.

However, since you made a thread on it... most of you will never actually do it. I mean, why would you? Really, why would you? There's a reason all those older active posters above a certain height simply vanished from these forums (Uppland, Taller, NewHeights, etc). I only see you here making all those posts about wingspan, looks, etc. It doesn't seem like the same mentality of someone who only wants to get taller.

So, it seems most of you (>5'9) are only here to repeat or fall for internet memes ("anything below 6' is manlet status"), and incessantly make posts about looks/dating.

Like I've already mentioned, I personally think people like this will just move to another feature if they really do CLL.

However, being the shortest male in my family, I also understand how you feel, and why you may want this.

That's not a bad thing in any way... when you're average/tall height. You may have tall/very tall children. They will never think of their father as short. That's a blessing.

Look at how many short users resent one of their parents for something that was also completely out of control for them: their height. To be fair, the ones who resent their parents solely based on the height of one of them tend to be enormous kooks, but still.

At your height I would not even think of doing LL, I am considering it only bcoz I'm 5'4". I would like to advise you not to do it at your height, does not make sense.

People who are (way) below average height in the country they live in, face discrimation and many disadvantages...

ask yourself..who discriminates against you? what disadvantages do you have? What will change after LL? Why do you want to be as tall as your brothers even though you are already tall enough in many countries? Write down all the negative experiences you had concerning your height and think about how they affect your everyday life (happiness, career, relationships)

Decide on your own and be aware that this forum is probably more moderate with criticism than all the people around you (even if they don't say it to your face)

Good luck.

True. If you're tall you don't care about your parent's height. If you're really short you don't want your parents to be taller than you. You should rather hope that your children outgrow you. Better than resentment.

I think we can all agree it’s extreme for him to want it at his height although I also think we can sympathise with him on at least one of the reasons he wants to do Limb lengthening.

That being said he actually has an advantage compared to most of us here in that being taller gives him a better chance of lengthening amount for example if you have longer limbs then realistically you can lengthen more then most.

Even if you do lengthen to let’s say 6’0 plus you’ll at least need to do 6 cm + 4 cm on segments that’s if you want to be close to your brothers height I mean let’s be honest if you want to be in the same limit of lengthening and get close to their heights (BTW I’ve read some of your past posts on here where you mentioned your height was like 178 cm) so if that’s the case the furthest you could go to maintain safe lengthening plus a good recovery would be 188 cm (6’2) and as you mentioned on this your brothers are what 6’2.5+ some I’m assuming they’ what 189 cm + so either way you’d still be the shortest out of all your brothers not by much but still shortest.

But if you are going to do LL then please choose a good doctor with a good reputation you honestly wouldn’t want to fk up any of your athletic ability if it goes wrong especially considering the height you already have and the athletic ability you have with it if you know what I’m saying.

Good luck.

This is a great, moderate answer that accurately nails (no pun intended) every issue down.

  • A man at 5'10 is statistically taller than 95% of women in the US, and slightly above-average in height for a male, nation-wide - and the US is by no means a short country. What may be the reasons you still feel you need more height? Write them down, do some self-reflecting/introspection, and weigh the costs, risks and benefits of cosmetic distraction osteogenesis - knowing all you do about the surgeries, the processes, the risk they entail, and your height.

Quote

Also true. If you have caring parents, imagine telling your mother you want to undergo something like this at your height.

The height dysphoria we feel here is all relatable, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's all equally comparable. At least, not until a much safer procedure than cosmetic distraction osteogenesis appears. In the end, the hate taller men (or average height women) get here also stems from the frustration of human beings seeing other human beings wanting to make, in their views, possibly terrible, incredibly low-benefits decisions for themselves. Not always. Some people just want to hate. However, for others, there's a lot of that hidden beneath their comments.

Despite this, as we've all, including Body Builder, have said: it's not our life. It's your lives, in the end. You make your own choices.

First and foremost I think I should apologise if I offended anyone on this forum with this topic and honestly I will take all of your advice and make a list of pros and cons related to doing Limb lengthening and when I made this topic I didn’t necessarily take aim at anyone individually for saying I don’t need Limb lengthening but to put into prospective I’ll give you one major reason why I’d like to lengthen, bullying I know it sounds odd but at 5’10 I’ve basically been a laughing stock because of how my height looks compared to my family if I’m in public with my brothers I always get those people looking at me in a crowd of giants like oh man he’s so short. I know it’s petty but it’s vary common I mean what am I supposed to do start a fight because a jerk called me short there have even been instances where someone has directly made fun of me because of it it was about 2 weeks ago we are all minding our own and then this girl joined us and I thought yea this is nice then she had to go and mention the obvious 3 giants and an umpalumpia I mean I wasn’t even the smallest guy at the club that night this chick just had a level of ignorance that was well really uncalled for and it really put things into prospective.

You're not short. You just need to learn to ignore idiots like whoever called you short. As for the whole thing about being out in public with your family, and feeling like you're being judged: just start bulking up. I'm sure you have way more willpower than your brothers do, if you're even going as far as considering CLL. As long as you look wide and strong, no one in the streets will be thinking you look "weak", the "runt of the litter", when compared to your brothers. In fact, it'll probably be the opposite.

Look, I know people that own the Pixel 2XL and still paid premium price for the S9 for a marginally better camera. They convinced themselves and felt satisfied (I guess) but it won't be the same as someone with a 4 year old phone upgrading, and nobody else is going to validate such a decision.

But at the end of the day, it's your choice. Someone that really wants LL won't give a rat's a$$ whether others think he should do it. As long as the possible complications and long road of recovery seems worth the gain to you.

You're taking the criticism the wrong way sir. The people (like myself) that are looking down on your decision are people that think the risks far outweigh the rewards.

I don't see how that processes through your brain as "We want to get taller, but we don't want you to get taller." That is not the case at all. Yes, ideally we'd all like to be 6'1"-6'2" whatever but it's never going to happen. And for you, it's NEVER going to happen, without spendings ALOT of money and sacrificing ALOT of your athletic ability. And it's not a maybe, it's a definitely. That's the reality.

The point of the matter is that we will support you if you do decide to go through with LL but we won’t support your height at which your going through with that’s probably the best way I can describe it but in saying that good luck if you do go through with LL and if you don’t I really do hope you can learn to ignore idiots and move on from it

Don't be so quick to rule out the possibility of that happening Johnson, we are all gonna make it; atleast the ones that are serious about becoming tall.

I'll wait for a decade, don't want to regret if by chance something does come up. Even if the "miracle" solution doesn't transpire, hopefully the LL technology improves atleast.

Not being sarcastic, not being an ...hole, I am really concerned about your mental health, please see a psychiatrist - you are trying to find solace in blaming something that exists only in your mind ( a figment of your imagination) for other issues in your life. This forum and this topic is not relevant to you trust me. You need help my friend.

Bro that’s my bad I didn’t read what I had spelt but I’m not the one who started this topic I was meant to say it isn’t a good reason but if I was in his (racurz) situation then I’d probably be a little more sympathetic towards him.

I hate typing on phones lol 😂
