Problems with family and partner to go ahead with the operation?
« on: September 01, 2014, 09:00:51 PM »

Hi all,

I wanted to ask you if you are facing any problems with your family or partners when it comes to share with them your intentions of going through this surgery?

I have to say that in my case (I had my first consultation with Dr. Guichet and really liked him) this is one of my main points of concern.

I know they will go crazy and will try to stop me specially my partner and I do not know how to tell them.

Are you also facing that? How are you overcoming it?

Many thanks!

I got a lot of hell from my parents, but once I got the money to afford the surgery and arranged the time off there was nothing they could do. Eventually they just decided to support me once they saw I was going ahead with it no matter what. It's your life. If you need to do something for your happiness then go for it.

On my flight to paley consultation right now. My grandpa thinks I'm ruining my life. My cousin who I'm super close with says I need to be myself and I shouldn't care about girls or peoples opinion of me being short cuz they are just people whose opinions shouldn't matter anyway. Sister called me robot legs lmao. seriously if you don't have to tell anyone, don't. I'm still fking undecided on this   tho. I want it so bad, I just don't wanna look unproportional and the risks scare me still.

Many thanks shortkid and kiloKHAN for your replies, it feels so good to see that we are not alone in this!

This surgery is not common (yet), and on top of all the risks, financial efforts there is this problem of feeling alone and that nobody really understands you and think that you are just crazy.

This forum is great, to gather information, share experiences but most importantly to see that you are not alone in this.

Have a nice day  ;D
