A quick thread, I was just wonderig if the metal bars that they put you after they break your legs are supposed to replace the new length? Or do they just tell the body to regenerate the new bones that are going to be formed? I have understood that through this surgery you actually REGENERATE your bones not break them and attach them with metal bars.

It's not necessary to keep them in your legs forever. You can choose to get them removed. Earliest time would be around 1 year after surgery but it depends on bone consolidation and the recovery of your legs. It's interesting that Dr.Paley strongly suggests that the PRECICE nail should be removed because of the rare earth magnets which can potentially be hazardous to the body. The moving parts in the nail could also lead to wear and corrosion.
But other inert nails such as the ones used in LON/LATN can remain in the legs forever.

I wonder if the nails could become dangerous for you if you have an accident and hurt or even break your legs after the surgery.

How can they be traumatic for the knee? They aren't even attached to the knee as I know.

I wonder too, since bones play a role in blood production, does it affect your blood after some years ?

They go in and out through the knee.

Dr. Franz has said that in adults, the long bones of the body don't contain much marrow anymore, and are instead full of fatty tissue.
