LL Veterans, how long does it take to regain flexibility?
« on: August 13, 2024, 03:14:33 AM »

How long does it take for your mobility to go back to normal?

I got Precice 2.2 done in early March and decided to do the whole 3 inches. It has been 2 months since I finished lengthening but hamstrings, quads, and most importantly, hips are still extremely tight. Not to mention I'm still using 1 crutch and won't be off them completely until early September.

Just worried my mobility will never be back to what it was pre-surgery. It's crazy because I used to be able to touch past my toes and now my hands get to about 5 inches from my toes.

At 50 years old pre CLL I could fully squat for hours no probs, I had good hamstring/quad/hip flexibility with a straight leg standing stretch ~15 cm below toes (I could palm the floor), early fifties I did 8cm (Precice) femurs, 4-7 years later (did unilateral, delayed by COVID) my quads/hamstrings/hips are still tight, I can barely touch my toes after 5 minutes warmup if I stretch daily for a week or so, my knees are stiff (they used through the knee rods), my squat is poor, and my running stride is poor... ofc don't give up trying, this maybe just because of my age.
At least my duckass has gone, I would say that took 3 years to heal, daily 20 minute walks, bike riding (high seat post for full extension of legs) and using a kneeling chair at work helped, I now have developed a hernia in my groin, not sure if LL contributed to this.

Never if you don’t do professional PT. I went 4 months after with nearly zero progress. One month at PT I made huge improvement. I still have to warm up here and there, but I can touch my toes even when I wake up in the morning and I did 3’. I’m just a little tight in the mornings

Everybody is different. And, to some extent, it's a direct function of how much work you put in. I gained pretty much all my flexibility back by about the 1 year mark.
