Hello,

I have been researching CLL surgery for the past year and I am quite interesting in going through with at least one surgery (femurs).

Here is some information about me:

Age: 32

Height: 1.68-1.69 meters or about 5'6.4

Wingspan: 1.76 meters, so that of someone who is 5'9 and some change

Weight: 168 pounds

Build: I have been working out for almost 10 years (natural) and have quite a muscular build

Location: Los Angeles, CA

I believe my femur to tibia ratio is about 1:1, but I haven't measured each with precision.

What initially drew me in and got me curious about CLL were all the LLT videos that were popping up on socials and YouTube. After doing more research and finally coming across this forum page, everyone is saying to steer clear of Turkey for CLL surgery, so I have been looking up areas and doctors near me. So far, I found one in Burbank, CA (Dr. Shahab) and one in Las Vegas, NV (Dr. Debiparshad).

Basically, I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations on places/doctors to get this surgery done. Also, if you have any advice and/or tips?

Thanks.

Depends on your budget but if you're going to stay in Cali, then Mahoubian isn't a bad choice either. I can let you know of out of state or country too ifyw

Probably mentally prepare yourself, and do lots of stretching

What would be your price range for how much you would be willing to spend on surgery? From my personal observations on success rates with people on this forum I would say that a doctor with a good balance between safety and price would be Birkholtz in South Africa. He is in the ball park of around 60k USD which isn't super crazy if you play your cards right financially. If you aren't looking to leave the United states but you want to keep the price in a reasonable zone then look into Dr Assayag in Baltimore who's price I am not familiar with off the top of my head. If you don't have the most money in the world but your not looking to get butchered then consider Dr Parihar in India who's around I believe 25k or Giotikas in Greece who's prices vary heavily.

For precise which is recommended for femurs, it'll be more than $25k for parihar because the precise nail itself is expensive.  Surgery and a week of hospitalization is around 900,000inr or around $11k.  If you do precise, it'll be around $25k more because the precise nail is expensive.

Want something reasonable. Not overly expensive to where I cannot afford it, but also not jeopardizing safety. I made a mistake - meant to say Dr. Mahboubian, who is Dr. Shahab Mahboubian, located in Burbank, CA. I saw his prices: Bilateral femur lengthening (Precise nail) —————–$85,000-$100,000

I also checked Dr. Debiparshad in Las Vegas, NV and they go for:

PRECICE 4th-Generation, Precice Max, FEMUR LENGTHENING PROCEDURE
available early 2024 – $75,000 USD

or

PRECICE 2.2, FEMUR LENGTHENING PROCEDURE– $72,000 USD

These rates exclude all additional fees & expenses, as well as the nail removal costs, which I saw could potentially be lowered with certain insurances.

I wouldn't mind hearing the out-of-state and country recommendations as well.

Thanks for the info.

Question: how strict is the max 8cm for precise lengthening on the femurs? Is it possible to go slightly over, or maybe even hit 9cm, if the patient is feeling okay?

That's exactly what I'm looking for - a balance between safety and price. The other two I listed seem a bit high with price and those don't even include the extras and additional fees/expenses. I'll definitely look into those recommendations. Are those prices you listed for everything, or just the surgery?

Question: Precise is the safer option for CLL, right? I was seeing LON methods, but only in places like Turkey mostly. I know that presents its own set of higher risks/complications. With researching more, I am seeing the new Precise Max, which I believe is weight-bearing?

Thanks for all the info.

Yeah if your looking for a good, balanced approach to LL then Birkholtz is your man. I believe the 60k covers everything except some supplements and minor equiptment you should buy beforehand (and of course the plane tickets). If you want more information on him you should look at his website or if you want patient testimonies I would suggest joining the d where there are a good number of his patients. For the other doctors I listed like for Parihar who is 25k for ring fixators and Giotikas who is 42k for Precice the things that are not covered are like travel expenses, accommodations, food stuff like that but wont be too expensive in places like Greece and India were they are located. And you are totally founded in your belief not to go to Turkey for LL as most of the clinics there will butcher you.

I will check his website out, as well as the others. Thanks. The surgeon from Baltimore seems like a good options too, Dr. Assayag. I am looking to put in a portion of my own money, then take out a loan for the rest, but would consider the surgery in about 1-2 years, after trying to save up more.

Is it still safe to consider LON, or is Precise the way to go? I know their are pros/cons with Precise, but I'm only seeing LON offered out-of-country. Is Precise maxed out to 8cm, or would the surgeon be okay with pushing a little bit more, if the patient is feeling okay? I know that 8cm is 3.14 inches, but a little bit more would be nice, so I could achieve 5'10.

Also, are all the people I'm seeing on YouTube who get their surgeries done in Turkey just risking it? I'm seeing a lot of positive reviews/results from LiveLifeTaller, but recently saw some clips from WannaBeTaller. Is it because the surgeons just don't care as much there, than here that they get such a bad rep?
