Currently doing LL, ITB tightness at 2cm
« on: June 23, 2024, 08:59:52 PM »

Hello all, need some advice,
I'm currently doing LL femurs and have hit the 2cm mark recently, I am getting some ITB tightness and have difficulty putting feet and legs together, (I can but I feel nerve pain+tightness), It has to be forced. Also I heard that ITB can't be stretched with pt?

Do yall think I'll be able to reach 8cm?

Any advice would be appreciated

Just to add: I did have an ITB release, it has however healed too quickly by the 4-5 week mark

Do you mean that you are at 2cm at the 4-5 week mark? Just interested as I haven't had an IT band release, am currently at post-op day 8, and about 1.82cm of gain. Things have been quite painful, tight, so perhaps that's explained by moving so fast.

yea 2cm ish at week 4, some people need ITB release, some don't. But it seems that my ITBs have literally healed completely and feels kinda tight now. I really wanna reach my goal though, might have to go for another release

It'll feel like that for a bit where you won't be able to put your legs together, don't panic. I went through the same but do make sure you stretch the IT band 2-3 times a day x3 time.

What does it mean by the way, putting your legs together?

IT band is a tendon that runs along the side of your legs. As you lengthen the tendon tightens, it makes it difficult to put both feet and legs together as if you were standing at attention in the military.

You mean your legs can only be placed in a wide stance right.

So is there any chance theoretically this limits the amount of lengthening?
And can it be alleviated with stretching or just time with walking make it improve to normality?
From your videos it seems like 100 percent normal function. I assume u did femur precice...

I did femurs yes, and your body will adjust once you’re done lengthening and if you stretch as you lengthen. I did 5.3 cm and I was actively stretching my legs, I was already jogging lightly by month 4-5.

Seriously I never imagined jogging after 4-5 months!
That's really impressive, would you say your flexibility of thighs and hip flexors were above average prior to surgery?
Even just walking normally after 6 months would be a fantastic outcome for me. I also plan on doing 5 (max 6) so this is encouraging

I didn't have good flexibility at all but I got really good at stretching after my surgery. I would be the type that wouldn't stretch before of after my runs. My bone consolidated faster than average though so that really helped.

Hey
How are you doing?
Was wondering if tightness got better and if you did anything to alleviate it ...
