Proportions after 5,5 cm femur
« on: June 11, 2024, 05:58:25 PM »

Hello ,
I plan to lengthen the femurs by 5,5 cm.
My Initial height is 1,75 and my tibia to femur  ratio is
0,81 and after surgery 0,73. I am not Sure how it would Look lilke with long femurs , although 0,73 should be just about
Natural variation 2SD. My wingspan is 180 cm.

Whats your opinion about wingspan to height and tibia  to femur  ratio after lengthening?

What is your opinion about wingspan to heights and
Tibia to femur ratio after lengthening?

Excellent question Ash, I am also 175 and have been considering the same thing. Bike yourself I am concerned about proportions and in a perfect world, I would add 4 cm to my femur and 3 cm to my tibia for total of 7mm.

But I don't want to go through the hell and expense of doing quadrilateral surgery. It seems if only doing one surgery, then femurs make more sense. Especially for guys like us who are not trying to get 8–10 cm on the femurs like many guys. I would be happy with 5.5 to 6.5 cm as well to maintain doable proportions, minimize recovery time and maximize the odds of recovering 100%.

Where are you considering going?

I would not overvalue proportionions at such a "small" amount of lengthening. I am 173 as well and an increase of like 10% of your original femur length will probably be barely noticeable unless you already have super long legs compared to your torso.

Lengthening 5.5 cm and caring about proportions is so hilarious lol.

I think wingspan to height ratio is more important than tibia to femur ratio in general.

That being said, the only people who will micro-analyze your proportions like that are on this forum lol. The average person is never going to notice or comment on these proportions unless you do an extreme amount.

See no problem at 5.5

Something crazy like 10 cm might be but I'd be more worried about recovery at that point rather than calculating proportion ratios.

No lengthening personally but I think my natural ratio is like 0.7 or something pretty long femur, but not abnormal looking at all and certainly no one has ever said anything.
