Hey guys,
It's been a while since I've been here. I did 7.5 cm femur lengthening with Dr Paley back in 2020. I was 5'4 so I'm now 5'7. I always knew doing just 1 surgery wouldn't be enough for me, given my starting height but I wanted to do the first surgery first to see how I feel. After 4 years, I can confirm that my height dysphoria hasn't gone at all. I'm still the shorter guy in most places that I go. I'm thinking I might have to do the tibia surgery as well but I'm not sure because of how much this will cost. And not mentioning the risks in doing this surgery. If ever I decide to do it, I'll only be considering doctors in the US. I wanted to ask if anyone here has read diaries about people doing both the femur and tibia surgery, in case doing 7.5 (femur) + 5 (tibia) cm would be too much. I really thought I was done with this but here I am

Well what is your condition 4 years after femurs surgery?
Are you waking normally without any issues?
Can you run?
Do you have any muscle pains or limited mobility?
I only did tibia and I cant say anything of comparing tibia to femurs, but for tibia there are indeed many possible complications, from delayed union (tibia heals twice as time as femur), fibula issues, ankle tendons issues... So if you had a relatively complication free experience before you may stick to the same surgeon or method.
I personally seen few guys that did more than 5 cm and I can see why doctors recommend doing less than 5cm.
Most required additional surgeries to fix complications.
They all had external methods.
Guys with internal nail of tibias I've known only through this forum and other medias and they seem to be better long run. But honestly genuine and honest shared experiences are hard to find

That's why I prefer to get femur surgery first. It heals much faster and complications are not as debilitating like you might get from tibia. Also, up to 5 cm from tibia is nothing for really short guys and from femur 8 cm is much easier to get. Moreover, if one lengthens tibia first, wearing height increasing shoes will look really bad with long pants whilst with +8 cm femur lengthening, +5 cm height boosting boots will balance out tib:femur ratio visually and you can stand much taller that way.

Basically, I wan't to return to my manual labor as soon as possible and with femurs it would be much sooner unless I do less than 5 cm on tibia which is pointless. Even 4 cm tibia will take a year to walk properly whilst 8 cm femur with weight bearing option is 3 months distraction and 2-3 months consolidation till you can walk unassisted and return dailiy life.

I can run. I tried playing soccer last year for the first time. I was able to play decently although not like before. My legs got tired quite fast though. The only problem I had after playing soccer that day was once I got back home, my legs were hurting a lot. Like not muscle pain but bone pain. I didn't receive any tackle/challenges while playing. The pain lasted about 2 days. I've kept practicing playing soccer on my own but have yet to play another game since last time scared me a bit.

Damn didn't know tibia could take as long as a year to be able to walk normally. That would be really hard for me to do. If I do tibia, I was thinking of internal nail so stryde.

I guess, you need to keep playing soccer, pain will go away and legs will become stronger

yo...same here... I did 3" with DR D in 2022 . now I can have my implants removed . currently at 5.10' .

if I do 2" on tibia , I will get to 6' XDXDXD . really thinking about getting it done .

Man, keep in mind, tibia surgery is a totally different surgery, pain, suffering, callus formation and healing. So, don't try to compare it with femur...
Usually, removing tibias nails are done after about 2 years and femurs after 1 year. I expect to happen same to me and I will remove all 4 at once, after 2 years.
The only difference is that I preferred to have only one period of suffering, so I done both surgeries in the same period.
I hate to suffer twice and to waste more time for healing and recovery !

Hello brother, how did you perform your femoral and tibial surgeries, were you done twice in one year? How long was the interval between surgeries? How is your recovery now? Can you run and walk?

That's so true. After having done the femur, it's really hard for me to have the same enthusiasm as I had before my first surgery even if I had no complications. How are you doing after having done both? How much worse was the tibia? Also how much did you do in femur and tibia?
