I spent a total of 2 hours talking to both Dr Becker and Dr Giotikas. Dr Becker also performed a surgery on me.
Whilst Giotikas is a friendly, honest and humble doctor, and I cannot say anything against him per se, if it came down to it I would have absolutely no hesitation going back to Dr Becker. He is switched on, intelligent, committed to the safety of his patients, he is in a good location, his nail bears weight and he still has Prof Betz who may jump in and offer his opinion if need be. Not everyone will agree, but Prof Betz is second to none in this field. Talking to many patients and employees at a Hotel in Weiskirchen (where I stayed for a month after my surgery and where Betz is very well known), I was unable to establish a single case of infection, lost limb, embolism or death. They did have one case of compartment syndrome, which resulted in a court case that was dismissed by the judge, and a few delayed unions. That is it. Their track record contains few to none serious complications, which is very impressive after thousands of cases, and a brag Dr Giotikas frankly cannot make, even though he has way fewer cases under his belt.
I appreciate the fact Prof Betz retired complicates things a bit, but based on my experience with Dr Becker and the fact he has the endorsement of who is quite possibly the most accomplished limb lengthening surgeon to have ever performed the art, Dr Becker has my endorsement, too. He is great, let there be no doubt about it.
And no, no one asked me to write this. I write this after being their patient for three years, and as someone who is quite sceptical by nature.
