When does IT band release become necessary for femurs?
« on: May 13, 2024, 05:40:46 PM »

Is it related to amount of lengthening? Like, for example, if I lengthen for just 4.5-5.0 cm, can I get away without IT band release?

It's most recommended. U will need to stretch alot and the walking is stiff if u skip out on it after say 3.5 cm

What about people who did external femur, i.e. Overdozer and other users who did cross-lateral and exceeded 5 cm?

I'm mostly interested if there are people who lengthened in 4-5 cm range and never did IT band release.

Also, is that procedure expensive if one needs it in the future? How invasive is the surgery?

u may need it band release at 4cm+ . dr paley recommends it and pushes for it. ur legs will be stiff n u will walk with a stiff leg. it cost about 3k to have it cut. alot of physical therapy if u dont do it. some doctors have it included in the surgery.

If my doctor doesn't perform it, is it okay to cut it after I lengthen my femurs? Maybe after 1-2 years post-op.

If my doctor doesn't perform it, is it okay to cut the band after I finish the lengthening and consolidation process?

yeah but that is an extra surgery, why put yourself in that situation, every surgery has potential complications, I HIGHLY recommend you go to a surgeon who does the release during the initial surgery because this is a MUST.

What about people whose surgeons didn't perform the cut? How do they function after LL?
