two operations
« on: August 23, 2014, 08:28:31 PM »

i´ve read that you can make two surgerys on the tibias can.
i mean 2 inch per leg both tibias and then in 14 months 5 cm again on the tibias (per leg 5 cm).
is this better for the life after ll ?
i have than not so much complications and pain ?

Forget about it. You only have one original length in your tendons. It doesn't matter if you have 7 surgeries to lengthen 1cm at a time, it is still the same.

Do one surgery and make the best of it.

The only reason to come back and do a second surgery on the same segment would be if you fell short of your lengthening goal  the first time due to complications.

What do you all think of doing 3+4 instead of 7CM, or 4+4 instead of 8CM, one surgery on each segment. I think that this would leave you with the best proportions, and probably the best recovery. Plus, if doing external tibiae, 3 or 4CM would lead to the fixation time likely being far more reasonable.

It'll cost twice as much and take twice as much time, unless he'll do it quadrilateral. The recovery won't be better also, as he'll be damaging both lower leg segments, instead of just one. And proportions are relative.

The 4cm/5cm tib/femur procedure would definitely be most ideal. You maintain the proportion of the segments and don't ravage your lower leg muscles. But the cost and time seem to negate this advantage and make one excessive lengthening of a segment the most practical for most people.

i think as exclide.you should recover completely and then make the other two segments further i think.
