22M from UK. I want to get limb lengthening. Thoughts?
« on: January 11, 2024, 01:37:43 PM »

Hello, I am a 22 year old Indian Male born and live in the UK. I want to get limb lengthening surgery due to multiple factors. I hit 178cm at 14 years old and since then I’ve genuinely not grown, maybe I’m 180-179cm in the morning now but at night time after the gym I’m about 178cm  when measured on a stadiometer barefoot.

Due to me not growing since 14. I have been going through some sort of identity crisis. It’s annoying how I went from the ‘tall big guy’ in school as I was well above average height for my age all the way to now being considered too short for most girls to date me. And no it’s not just girls from dating apps, also IRL.

I am an avid gym goer for 2.5 years. Love to lift weights, look big and being strong. I currently SBD 170, 120 and 220 kilograms respectively as a non powerlifter. However I’m afraid if I get the limb lengthening surgery I will never reach those numbers or beyond again. Should I try to max out my genetic limit as possible before getting the surgery so muscle memory will make it easier to rebuild muscle after getting it?

I got quite long legs for my height, short torso, long limbs. But my arms look really long for my height so I’m not concerned about them possibly looking disproportionate.

My desired goal is about 182.5-183cm so just about 6 foot barefoot. I feel like this height it will be barely noticeable I got the surgery from proportions. Should I go for taller if I do get the surgery? Or would this height be good.

Ultimately my question is, should I get the surgery?

Your height isn't your issue to get girls, it's you.
I've seen men at 165cm barely have issues, yet you can't with 15cm more?

You seem to have a 6ft fixation, which means it's mental. And believe you can look like a tall Shrek and land some girl to f@ck. 👁️ 👄 👁️

The attracting girls bit for me to get limb lengthening surgery is definitely true yes but not the main reason. It’s just frustrating how I thought I’d be 6’2/6’3 based on how tall my family is, especially my other cousins and with confidence I’d be way taller than I am now but nope.

Those 165cm men without issues, what age are they and what region do they live in? Because genuinely I’ve been struggling with the height thing now. I approach girls in the 4, 5 and even 6 foot range but it’s usually that oh you’re a bit too short for me.

No one can really advise you on whether you should or should not get this surgery. Asking such a question on a forum like this is often counterproductive, in my opinion. This is a very personal matter and it is based on your own opinion and feelings. Nobody knows how you feel everyday (only you do).

The decision to get the surgery or not really comes down to the level of anguish that your current height causes you and how willing you are to go through the CLL process (and how well you understand it). And once you do decide to get the surgery, the next step is doing it in the safest way possible, with the safest surgeon possible, that meets your timeline/ budget.

I was a similar starting height as you (roughly 175 cm) before I got surgery the first time. It changed my life in terms of how I felt about myself. But my height was NEVER a barrier to me dating women. I frequently dated women much taller than me (180-185 cm) even when I was only 175 cm. And I lived in VERY tall countries (Latvia- statistically it has the tallest women in the world), where my height probably should have been a significant barrier to dating, but it never was, because I never made it a problem. So my reasons for doing the surgery were more to stop worrying about my height so much and to be able to live my life without constantly having those feelings in my mind. I wanted to live like an unchained man free of the shackles that height dysphoria caused me in my mind. I never did it to improve my dating life.

Of course, nowadays it has improved my dating life because I am attracted to taller women, and being 188-189 cm tall pretty much means that I can date VERY tall women without any issue at this point. But again, that wasn't why I did CLL.

You should keep in mind that research has proven that while women do care about a man's height, they predominately just want a man TALLER THAN THEM. So if we are talking about a woman who is 168 cm she will probably be equally satisfied with a 178 cm man (like you) as she would be with a 188 cm man. Both are taller than her and are thus suitable candidates (from a height standpoint alone).

The rest of it comes down to how confident you are in yourself, how good you are at building attraction/ comfort with her, how well you overcome her "tests" (all women test men), and various other factors that are way outside the scope of limb lengthening. In fact, I would go so far as to argue that if a woman ever says you are "too short" for her, she is just testing your confidence level. If you brush that off with a joke and just continue the interaction in a playful manner, she will probably love it and not care about your height. I would have tall women telling me I was "too short" for them all the time, but then they still dated me after I brushed off their comment playfully and demonstrated to them that the height difference didn't bother me one bit. In fact, that turned them on quite a bit, because most men would react to such a comment by getting depressed or angry. Why was I different? It made them want to get to know me better...

You are a good height (178 cm is a good height and above average in the UK), so the height comments towards you (in your case) is probably just her way of seeing if you are confident enough to handle her emotions, so she knows if you are worth investing those emotions and attraction into you. Don't worry so much about it :)

But if you still want to get the surgery, I also understand where you are coming from, because the reasons for doing it are often very complex. Just please do your research and talk to as many people as possible (former patients and surgeons) before you go through with it. Best of luck.

If you do this surgery the only benefit you will receive is psychological. At 178cm this will not result in a better dating life.

In general I agree, yes. Most of the benefits for him would be psychological. Which would make him more confident.

But he might also see some improvement in his dating life concerning dating apps (Bumble, Hinge, Tinder, etc). Sometimes girls there set preferences for height as a filter.

I was 5'5" until I did CLL.  If you're 22...yes you can have height dysphoria.  I dealt with heightism a lot longer than you have, I did this procedure at 39.  If maintaining athleticism is important to you, I wouldn't do this.  You are nearly average height, and only have the "6 foot" obsession because women have put that there.  If women would have made it 5'10" , men would be saying I need to get to that height...you see the pattern.  Do what you will.

@AllinStryde sounds like you lost quite some athleticism? Would you mind elaborating a bit? I am someone just considering it. But i am not the shortest person on the forum naturally with 173cm. I would not want to trade in much of my athleticism to be honest. Some LLers seem to get back to 95% or something but your statements sounds different for sure.

u live in the uk. alot of taller guys and make u feel shorter. i say if u think about it for yrs like 5 yrs . u should do it. its time consuming n u might not have a job for awhile. if u can live with that then ur set to go. but being 179 is not short at all . some guy did it at 5'11 and had all sort of problems and he got like 4 cm on the tibia. has drop foot and needs a caretaker.

Thanks for the reply

My current height angers me severely everyday to the point I lose sleep over it, struggle to eat and have lost weight due to it, especially because I used to always think I was even taller than I actually was but even with that original height I thought I was, I was unhappy with it.

Even if my dating life was good with my current height I’d still want the surgery no matter what. I don’t think having a girlfriend would make much more secure about my height. It’s like body dysmorphia which I’ve also have to an extent. There’s been many times where I’ve been considering steroids even though I already have a 1% physique. I’ll always have this height dysmorphia though. I just don’t feel like the complete man I want to be with my height. For some people being the complete man may be owning their dream car or own a Rolex or a trophied property but for me in this case it’s also my height.

But yeah with my current height dating is really hard, it might be the area I am from (I’m from London) and also my age which is 22 but like seriously everytime I’m on a dating app (hinge bumble tinder and even the minor ones lol), I’ll see girls of all heights, even 5’1 or lower openly state they don’t want a man under 6 foot. I’ve tried in real life too, I just get told I’m cute but you’re not that tall.

My height angers me so much I’m CONSTANTLY checking my height multiple times a day everyday to see what height I actually am. Seems to be my average height over the day is 179-179.5cm, I usually start off at 180 or 181 even on a good day then can drop down to as low as 178 but that’s because I go heavy at the gym.

It’s also frustrating that I’m in a family where everyone else is really tall, in fact extremely tall considering I’m Indian. the average male cousin is like 6’4 and it’s just a horrible feeling for me getting looked down all the time.

Thanks for the reply

178 having trouble? Man... have you seen the new calvin klein video? That guy is not tall. Heard he is 5 foot 7. Sometimes it's the sex appeal, the personality perhaps too. Both my uncles have wives who are taller than them, probably by two inches or so. With kids too. From Singapore.

I think girls that are very very fixated on your height will make your life hellish even if you meet those requirements...so it'll be your money next, your hairline next, your penis size next...until you become crazy and insecure about anything you love about yourself.

If a man didn't befriend you because of your height, you wouldn't feel lesser.
So why would a woman make you feel that way? Don't make it personal.

To add on I think some girls do that to just as a placeholder reason to reject you. Oh, you're too *something*. if she likes you, she will like you and discount whatever physical discrepancies u may have.

Much of a man’s value is derived from his behavior, personality, attitude, and ability to access scarce resources.

His attractiveness (to women) stems from a combination of skill, confidence, status, experience, and appearance. Notice how I listed appearance as an important trait, but listed it towards the end.

Appearance is not the end all be all for attracting women. I know very many men who are "handsome" and "tall" and "good-looking" who struggle to meet and attract women because they lack the other traits I mentioned. They may be handsome, but they are not "attractive." There is a big difference between those two words when it comes to a man. A woman's attractiveness is often mainly based on her physical beauty, whereas a man's attractiveness is gathered from the traits I listed above (where his appearance is only one factor and often not even the most important one).

Again, there is a difference between being "handsome" and being "attractive" as a man.

Going down deeper, height is also just one factor in terms of a man's appearance. Different people (particularly women) also view your height with varying degrees of importance when they are determining if they find you good-looking or not.

In fact, last year I dated 2 very pretty girls, one of them was 5'8 and I didn't get any comments related to my height. Heh, people's "standards" are becoming more demanding and absurd, which means that in the end, between opposite sexes they just see each other as a bag of meat. I plan to have surgery this year, only one person knows and has supported me unconditionally.

Pd: your husband must be a very lucky man

I once had a partner who had those qualities that you mentioned, he was not a man of height but a man of high value. There was a point in which I mentioned LL and it is not surprising that men resort to that since many of them work on one or two parts of their personality and social skills, height gives the "great advantage" of the first impression and that the first contact with a girl or boy is visual, but it does not define everything. Btw as you, Im also aiming for 6’2 which is my personal favorite height

I think it differs from one to another? "Fun size" men like myself do have a place in a dating scene, albeit a smaller one compared to very masc 6 footers. I have seen petite chinese boys dating tall white men. I also do know of one couple with the tall one playing the submissive role. So, with all these examples the takeaway is that height is simply not only thing that is considered for both roles. I believe to some extent, like some women.

Handsome tall guys are nice to look at personally but I hate having to crane my neck too much lol. I prefer probably only  3 inches taller. I have a best friend who is also gay and tall too, but not very lucky when it comes to dates. I don't have the heart to tell him that it's his face 🤭.

I want to do this surgery simply because I do not want to feel too drowned in a crowd. Probably one of the pros would be not having to get my pants shortened everytime i buy a new one lol.

🤭. The short hetero men I mentioned - there's a common trait that they have that I noticed - they know how to make people laugh. They're funny. I personally like that in a date too. It's hard to get my interest piqued by a man who just sits there like slab of stone and expects me to hand over my bum on a platter. No sir.

No one cares about a man's standards for sticking his dck in another man.

Saying 'well I know a 5ft 2 bald Indian janitor who gets laid all the time' isn't an argument and proves nothing because 1) It's unverifiable, and 2) No one claims that no one ever got laid who was short and/or ugly. That doesn't mean it's not being short and/or ugly that is the problem in your dating life, however. It's like me saying, well I know a handsome broke guy with a girlfriend so therefore your spiel about money and 'access to scarce resources' isn't accurate in the slightest. One example that could have been created out of thin air means the square root of nothing.

In general I agree, yes. Most of the benefits for him would be psychological. Which would make him more confident.

But he might also see some improvement in his dating life concerning dating apps (Bumble, Hinge, Tinder, etc). Sometimes girls there set preferences for height as a filter.

He could just lie on his dating profile and see if he gets more matches. It's not like girls would realize he is lying about 3 cms based on pictures.
-----------------

Height is very important and probably the most important OBJECTIVE physical factor in dating. By objective I mean that can be directly compared. Having a good looking face could be more important but it's subjective. Having a "good personality" is also subjective.
Objective factors are stuff like height, weight, muscle size etc. You can directly compare who is shorter/taller, heavier/lighter, who has the bigger biceps etc.
That doesn't mean being bigger is objectively better but it can be directly compared.

Study after study show that women prefer men who are not only taller than themselves but at least slightly taller than the average of where they live.
Does that mean that all tall men are attractive? No, because they may have terrible subjective traits like being extremely ugly or being socially inept. Does that mean some guys who are short or average can't be attractive? No, even excluding celebrities who are short, there are guys who are just good looking, funny and extremely popular.

There are other less invasive stuff you can do to become more attractive but it's hard to think that getting a bit buffer, getting a nice tan or becoming more extroverted etc will have as much as an impact as becoming 6'2". Also, being on objective measure we can be sure it's reachable. You can get plastic surgery to become more handsome and still look ugly. If you're 5'11" and get 3" LL you will be 6'2".

However, on the other hand, realize that LL is extremely expensive, time consuming, painful and may leave you with permanent damage. So, at 179cms you gotta really weigh in the pros and cons. It could also happen that if your other traits are bad you may go from 0 to 0 and join the millions of tall guys who can't get laid.

He could just lie on his dating profile and see if he gets more matches. It's not like girls would realize he is lying about 3 cms based on pictures.

I largely agree with your points. In life, we must put our best foot forward and maximize the attributes that we have (within reason, of course). If something can be boosted/ improved in a safe manner, I am a proponent of doing so. One of my main mottos in life is that I am CONSTANTLY working to improve myself in all domains of life (physically, mentally, financially, spiritually, etc).

So naturally, I eventually decided to improve/ increase the one aspect of my physical appearance (my height) that I felt was truly lacking and holding me back from becoming a truly physically attractive man.
