I used to argue with people about the starting height itself. 5’9 is around a lot of people end goals on this forum. Someone wanting LL at their goal height is a difficult prospect for them and they will defend the idea that being 5’9 is good enough and there will be little to no benefit to getting to or exceeding 6 foot. I could spend hours trying to argue that going from 5’9 to 6ft+Ish is a huge difference, maybe not as big as going from 5’5 to 5’8 but it’s still huge in the way people will see and treat you. But it’s a waste of time because people are too emotionally invested.
There is some truth to the idea that going from below average/ short to above average/average height will be a bigger difference in how people view/treat you in comparison to going from average to tall. I’m too lazy to post the studies but basically being short is a bigger disadvantage than tall is an advantage. Hopefully that makes sense, and there is plenty of literature to support this idea.
Now, is that reason for you not to get LL? Is it purely based on stats and studies? No, what you should analyze is how much your height is affecting your day to day life. It’s a subjective question. Is this something that you think about daily? Is this something that you often fantasize about fixing? For the money is this what would make you the most happy? There’s a lot of things 80k+ can buy, is this the most bang for your buck, including the risk? If you think about this daily or close to, if you fantasize about being taller constantly, if there’s nothing else in the world you rather put this massive amount of money, time and effort towards than it regardless of you starting height LL is right for you (given you can do it relatively safely).
