Deciding not to do LL
« on: October 15, 2023, 05:39:29 PM »

Can someone be happy at 5ft 6 without doing LL after having thought about LL for a lot many years? Can you get rid of height dysphoria without LL?

I'm exactly 5,6 in the evening.
I dreamed about being taller for years as a teenager.
Until 19/20 i hoped i would be grown at least some more centimeters.
Once i reached 21/22 i completely stopped focusing so much on my height, just because i knew i had to live with it the rest of my life, i could only accept it.
I stopped growing at 16.
Deep down i wasn't satisfied woth my height, i just stopped obsessively think about being taller just because i knew it was not possible.
Less than a year ago i discovered about CLL and my old desire immediately came back.
Now it has been months since i'm watching a lot of videos and lurking the forum every single day.
I will definitely go through with the surgery if i'll find the money.
To answer your question....
For my personal experience if your desire of being taller is that strong it's hard to quit thinking about having the surgery.
You could do it maybe only if you find an other thing in life that makes you really really happy, in which you can focus and go on.

My conclusion is that it's a challenging journey, but in 2023, it's a relatively safe procedure with the new precision technique. If you opt for a skilled surgeon, even if it requires saving more money, you have a 99% chance of being satisfied. 8)

Height isn't just about how you feel in your head, aka height dysphoria. It doesn't matter what you think. You WILL be treated worse off in society because of your short stature. In some ways large, in other ways small, but you WILL be treated differently. There IS a benefit to being taller. There IS a negative to being shorter.

Believe it or not, I don't have height dysphoria. I've been very successful romantically and financially. Yet, I am a very practical individual. I KNOW there are benefits to being taller, it's an indisputable FACT. The time and money aspect isn't that big of a hindrance to me, so I will get the surgery. I recognize a problem, so I will fix the problem. It's that simple.

Current LL plan:
QLL in Early 2025 using the PRECICE nail with Dr. Birkholtz.
4cm tibia, 4cm femur. One year later, re-break for another 4+4. 167cm -> 175cm -> 183cm

Yeah, honestly, i don't even see my self that short.
But having 7/10 cm more height makes a huge difference in how people perceive you.
Especially going from a bit short to medium/medium tall, gives you the most possible benefits.
I know for a fact that i would be treated differently if i was 176/178 instead of 168.
I also have a young face, so that's even worse.

Time , money, surgical risks are AN ISSUE. If not, EVERY one under 5 ft 8 would get this done.

time & money are the issue. LL isn't very risky if you're doing it in a first world country. People have literally no clue how it works and no clue how safe it is. LL is effective and safe, it just looks scary so people assume its bad and doesn't work.

Once you know that the surgery exists, it's hard to not do it.
I guess talking to a psychiatrist can help but I think most people can't get rid of Height dysphoria unless they get the surgery done.

In your case, doing just Tibia lengthening in Europe for about 30k would be worth considering.
You would have somewhat okay scars, but you can only do about +5cm safely.

It makes little sense how you are fine not doing LL at all, but at the same time wanting those extreme gains, which could ruin your body and proportions completely. Why is something in between not an option, between 0 cm and 8 cm?

If money is not an issue, then do a moderate amount Tibia first, and you will always have the option to do the big gains later on with femurs.

you are absolutely right. Surgical risk is not big if you do it with a good surgeon.

You are very right !
I met many women and all loved me. But, the best quality women I met was same height or taller !... so, big frustrations.
I am educated, so people appreciate and follow my knowledge. But people wants taller leaders. Also, many times a man lower educated than me, got a better position and became my boss.... so, big frustrations.
Also, in my field you MUST BE tall !

UNWRITTEN LAWS:
- Men should be taller than all women around, minimum 10 cm taller than tallest one !
- Leaders should be tall, because they are better listened and followed !
These are facts !

You're on the wrong forum. You have zero idea what you're talking about. There is a mountain of evidence proving that height matters, so no, it's not "all about charisma".

You yourself got limb lengthening. So how in the hell are you going to turn around and say "it's all about charisma"? Then why the F*** did you get the surgery if that's true? You are either trolling or lying.

Depends a little bit where are you from i guess, in the US that a difficult height to live with, in latin america or asia just under average, not akwardly short. Idk if that helps, but im from Argentina and two of the friends i have that get laid the most are both about 5'7 or 5'8 and the average where i live its about 5'9 or 5'10

I also wonder if a lot of height dysphoria comes down to not feeling like you belong. So let’s say you or maybe your family immigrated to the Netherlands from South America. You may be 5 foot 6 and maybe you grew slower compared to everyone else growing up there. I wonder if the height neurosis would be less if you were back in South America where you are more naturally within the height distribution and looks wise.

What I’m trying to say is that height neurosis may be environment dependent and not just a question of girls saying they want someone tall in dating.

As we become more globalized as a species if my hypothesis here holds then height neurosis will also grow in the population.

Yeah, totally. My height neurosis disappear when i'm with my family where every dude its about 5'7 and every woman about 5'1.
In fact, if you start watching how friends groups are made, short guys tend to get along more with guys their height and the same to tall guys, and short girls/tall girls. You could say its about how unconfortable is to talk with someone a head taller than you, but there is surely some kind of "feel of beloging" there too. I guess is the same feeling of "not belonging anywhere" if you are the shortest guy or girl every place you go, aside of the universal beauty standard of being tall of course, which have more ponderate weight in this topic, naturally.
