Cardio or weight-training tilt leading up to surgery?

One can say, "Just do both plus stretch a lot." But my question is, is it a good idea to do a lot of running leading up to surgery, or to have do more strength training.

I've read "more muscle = more pain." I was thinking that I would focus more on cardio in order to slim down + do a lot of stretching, while focusing less on weights.

Any perspectives?

I'm going to be doing Quad Precice 2 to get 14cm (8 femur + 6 tibia).

When are you doing your surgery?

Early next year. I plan on developing a good stretching routine. I've already started.

But I was hoping someone here could shed some perspective on ideal physique going into the surgery.

In other words, are highly cardio-trained legs superior to weight-trained legs at moderate reps, for instance. I also feel that high levels of pre-op cardio will decrease risk of DVT due to better blood flow.
