I need your guy’s opinion. Well, thoughts rather. I’m thinking (really hard) about getting CLL. The problem is that I’ve got a great career in law enforcement. Of course minus the issues with my constant thoughts about height and improving that part about me and my mental well being. I can take 2 years off without a problem. However, I want to go back to it. Have any of you returned to a workplace after recovering that has higher physical requirements?

yeah 2 years is a good timeframe for back to peak athletic ability. 1 year you can probably start running but no explosive power yet. but 2 years you can safely do those. It's not to say you'll be back to 100% your old explosive sprint, but 90% is more than enough explosiveness to chomp on donuts

How tall are you now? If your from the US I believe that you would have to be at least 5'8 in order to be an officer and that according to statistics and most people personal opinions ain't short.

But if you still have height dysphoria, or just want to be taller for your own sake, then hey go for it.

^ this idiot is obviously not from the US. We have all seen many police officers that are below 5'8 and even below 5'5.

If you want to heal up as like you never had a surgery then your height goals must be less than 3 inches. Like 2 inches from thighs and 2 inches from calves maybe. So your ligaments and range of motion can return to normal sooner. Most man who tries to maxout, gains the height but loses the function.

Not sure why I was called a stupid idiot. But to each their own. Yeah I was aiming for 2 inches. I’ve read a lot and 5-6 cm seems to be the sweet spot. I’m not trying to play sports or anything like that. Just get back to work.

hm are you the person who said that all US officers has a min height req of 5'8? If not, then no one was talking to you.

If you want to return to an office then yes. In any other situation it is very probable that you won't be able to cope with a demanding physically job after LL, especially in police where in an extreme situation maybe your life depends on your physical abilities.

Thanks for that. Yeah I have a more admin job. Only physical requirement is an annual fitness test. I’m not concerned with any of it except the 1 mile run. That’s what I’m worried about. 1 mile in under 14 minutes.

I agree and here in Denmark their used to be a height requirement of 172 cm / 5'8 which I as a short guy believe is fair. In my country you can't just use the gun as you like. So how would you as a like 5'5 guy like myself  put a 6'3 giant in handcuffs? Yep not possible.

Thanks for the opinions guys. But is there anyone here who’s been able to run a sub 14 minute mile after 5-6 cm LL after 2 years of recovery? I’m 179. Please spare the judgement. I work in a tall guy field and I just want to improve myself.

I can't spare that lol. You're an Audi a4 trying to be an audi a6 in regards of height. Your height is already great and other people ain't going to look at you differently. And if your coworkers don't show respect for you, then it's properly a lack of confidence rather than it's because your're not a very big giant... And why would you care about their acceptance and recognition to begin with? Are you not good enough without it? If women who are like 5'5 can be a cop with confidence (actually does exist here in Denmark lol), you should be able to at ease.

But hey it's your life, but your're an elephant wanting to become a Giraffe, while all of us on this forum are lions size wise haha.

Dysphoria hits differently for everyone. But I respect those who want to make a change and improve their mental well being. That’s all I’m trying to do. Seriously considering doing this next year in South Africa with Dr B. 5-6 cm femurs.

You might run into administrative problems.

As in, your employer considers such a procedure grounds of termination, due to risk of future physical injury which their insurance has a clause that won’t cover. But I’m not sure at all about this, it was just my first thought.

You could keep it to yourself and try to train up again, but you’d have to live with the risk of 1. not being able to get back to necessary physical form, 2. if you do make the physical you’d have to live with the anxiety of it being discovered if it grounds of termination.

If you’re already 179 I’d say you should really think if it is worth it, because you would be trading peace of mind from the increased height with the stress and anxiety of those two points. So it should be considered carefully if the end goal is better mental health long term.
