Questions for the young'uns...
« on: August 17, 2014, 06:07:19 AM »

Background information: 5'7'' with 5'10'' wingspan, in the pre-preliminary stages of considering maybe doing LL.

-I just wanted to know about peoples' living situations leading up to LL surgery, especially the university age ones like myself. Did you just graduate, did you have a job, were you planning on undertaking higher studies? How did your financials sort themselves out?

-Especially relevant for babies like myself, how did you explain this to your parents/did they even know or notice? Were they willing to listen to your logic?

-Wild card question: what is something you expected to happen after returning from the LL world, but didn't take place?

I apologize in advance if this is to personal in nature!

Im still living with my parents, and i had only one term left of my university program, so i decided to postpone it to get LL. So financially it wasnt that difficult to deal with, i had a lot of savings on my bank account, some inherited and some i earned myself. And i chose a relatively cheap doctor.

Il get my bachelors degree in spring next year and by then i should have recovered a lot.

My parents understood my choice after they realized how unhappy i was.. they also have always thought that it is my right to do what i want with my own money, they agreed to help take care of me after i convinced them that i had done all the research about this and that it isnt as dangerous as it sounds (while still being a very serious procedure). They knew that i was strong enough to do it since i have managed to do well in school despite having many unlucky problems happening to me during my teens.

I havent returned yet, but the only question mark i have is how my friends will react, im confident almost all of the ones i know well will notice the height increase immediately, but i dont know if they will be blunt about it and openly talk about it.

It will depend on how well that goes (how big of a deal they make out of it and how much they will dig for answers)  and how fast it will take for them to drop their suspicion and let it go, if it goes away fast and easy then i expect my life to become just as i always dreamed it to be very soon, otherwise it might make me feel insecure in the foreseeable future despite life being much better compared to pre LL times..

In 2007 when I had LL, I was 25 years old and had never had a job.  I'd completed about one year's worth of university, and I was planning to finally get my bachelor's degree after doing LL.  Mental health issues had taken a few years of productivity away from me, but I was on medications by 2005 so my life was taking a turn for the better when I started thinking about LL.

Finances were easy because it was 2007, just before the great recession, so borrowing enough money wasn't a problem.  I didn't have to ask anyone for any loans; I got my money just by responding to mail I'd get from banks.

My parents knew and were worried sick about it, but they said I'd gotten the money on my own so they couldn't do anything to stop me.

Thanks guys. I don't know when it would be the right time, but if I want this procedure (which I know my parents will be against) then I'd better start saving up some money, aka get a job real quick. I know some peoples' parents might kick in a few bucks (or in Leechlet's case the whole thing), but I probably shouldn't count on it.

I have removed the irrelevant posts between Slim Tim and other members arguing about Leechlet (whether he is a wimp) which is not what the OP wanted to know.

Slim Tim is suspended for 5 days as he was warned on two previous occasions (May 10th and August 4th) about breaking forum guidelines. Today he insulted somebody's parents for no reasons.  Please keep discussion civil and constructive.
