in femur lengthening, you do PT at home?

in femur lengthening over 2~3~ months, you do PT at home on your own? and is that good enough?

Some people do that, yes.

As for whether it's 'good enough', I guess that depends on your dedication to do the exercises, as well as the knowledge to make sure you're actually doing them correctly. There's not much done at a PT session that couldn't in theory be done at home IMO - so long as you can stretch all the major muscles that's the main thing, and as for treadmills/biking etc, a gym membership can take care of that.

HOWEVER there does in reality seem to be a pretty clear correlation between those who attend their physio sessions regularly and do well, vs those who often skip them and take longer to recover.

ok, i just wondered if patient can do the rehab at home, aside from his enthusiasm, during the lengthening period bc he can't freely go outside during this period.

I'm doing lengthening now, and yes you can do the rehab at home if you really want. Aside from going to PT sessions, I've been outside 2 times in nearly 2 months since surgery, so yeah you'll probably be cooped up indoors regardless. I will say there's a couple of patients here who are more active, and can walk for quite a while on crutches and so often go out for lunches, to get coffee, go shopping, a bit of sightseeing etc, but it's not the most common situation, most people generally go to physio/hospital for their xrays and go home and that's about it.

There's no specific reason you can't basically replicate 90% of what they do at PT at home. So long as you're hitting the hamstrings, quads, abductor muscles etc, and have access to an exercise bike and treadmill (just get a gym membership for that) then you'll be able to do pretty much everything they do at physio by yourself, for sure. The reality is though, from what I've observed, those who do that don't generally seem to be able to lengthen as much or recover as quickly. It'll be a mindset issue, but it's still worth considering - everyone thinks they'll have no mindset problems pre-surgery but yet plenty seem to post-surgery.

It's honestly more accountability. If you're the type of person to see yourself start slacking off, you probably want to do PT sessions at least 1-2 times a week. But if you are able to do self PT 6 days a week for 3-4 months, then sure do it at home. But you have to realize how long 3-4 months is, especially when you are trapped at home, in pain, not able to walk.

Calves are straightforward but thighs can require assistance depending on your individual strength and flexibility. Family members can learn the stretches and conditioning exercises that PT do. It's not complicated, it's more the matter of dedication and consistency. Maintaining glute strength is underrated because it allows faster weightbearing and prevents compression of the sciatic nerve.

Many thanks, people.  I am quite good at living trapped inside home, just i was wondering if technically it is possible to do it at home, and now it seems possible according to your answers. That's enough for my preparation. Thanks again
