Betz/Becker - FEMUR and TIBIA at the same time?
« on: June 07, 2023, 05:40:42 PM »

Is it possible to do femur and tibia at the same time with Betz/Becker? Or even a few weeks apart?

What is difference between doing 0,052 and 0,07 mm/click? Better healing process? Or less pain? Does Betz/Becker decide which is better?

Are 5,57 cm for femur and 3,2 cm for tibia realistic? How much time would recovery take?

0,052 mm/click = 17 Klicks/day = 0,884 mm/day

   Femur 55,692 mm = 5,5692 cm (63 days)

   Tibia 31,824 mm = 3,1824 cm (36 days)

= 8,736 cm in total.

Even though its just 3,2 cm for tibia, I think propotions-wise it would be better... 8,7 cm for femur is quite a lot. What do you think?

Sounds like something those guys would offer but Guichet wouldn't.

Maybe because Betzbone is weight-bearing… and the ones Guichet uses are not!?!? I havent read any diaries where femur and tibia was done at the same time…

They dont do it at the same time but maybe a few weeks apart.  I know Betz stopped doing quads in the same surgery and I assume Becker carried that over in his practice.  The reason is fat embolism risk.

I think you can easily get the answer if you google Betz institute.
You can check their website to get more info or even email or call them to ask

Since I myself live in Europe, I will probably do my LL at the Betz institute. I am going to do a quadrilateral lengthening, going from 183 cm to 193 cm. I will do the procedures with a few weeks apart, starting with the tibias.

Yes, they would reply you for such a simple question.
Pain level - definitely there is a pain and pain killer provided. Pain level - individual tolerance
No of clicks - Dr. Becker would give you a proposal but again it depends how your body react and callus formation
Typical Tibias: 5cm max     Femur : 8cm (max).   No doctor can control you if you want less or more.
Dr. Becker would review your pre-surgery XRAY and do the height simulation. He would recommend how many cm to lengthen for body proportion.
It is up to yourself whether u want more or less, listen to your own body during lengthening phase.
Dr. Betz has retired, only Dr. Becker is doing Betz Nail.
Email or call them and they will definitely answer these simple questions which can be found the answers in their website.
Even for Dr. Consultation - it is free...so I dun know what your concern is.

Have you already had your consultation with Dr. Becker?  When are you going to do to do your lengthening and how far apart?  Why tibia first and not femurs?

I have not yet had my consultation with Dr. Becker. I do not know when I am going to do it, but most likely when circumstances allows me. I am doing tibia first, because lengthening of the tibia has a longer recovery time than lengthening of the femur. Due to the longer recovery phase, it seems wiser to start with the harder one.

There is time in between. You can't do femur and tibia in the same surgery for many reasons. Everyone does either femur then tibia, or tibia then femur.

I did 12.36cm (4.86 inch) on femurs.
