At the end of the day, without shoes, I'm about 182 cm. I know it sounds silly, but it gets to me knowing that I'm not a real 6 footer. I've known about CLL for a while, but I don't want to go crazy, just an extra 1-2cm to get me over that 6 foot line and nothing more. The thing is, everything I read online, especially related to cost and complications, assumes you'll be lengthening at least 5-8cm.

So how much more affordable would CLL be if I wanted 1-2 cm instead of 5? Also, would it still have a noticeable, permanent effect on my athletic performance? Lastly, what doctors would even work with me? I hear some won't do CLL for patients who aren't abnormally short.

This is for my own peace and mind, so that I can confidently continue to tell people I'm the height I've been saying I was for years. Also, I saw too many "guys under 6' are undateable" memes during my growing years to be content being just short of that height.

Same price. Shorter recovery, prob not much athletic performance changes for 1-2cm. Expect 3 month post surgery to walk normally and 6-8 months to get back to sports.

Most doctors no longer care about your starting height. It was a thing of the past where they cared more, but now everyone is accepted if you pay for it and pass the blood tests.

Interesting, I've read the price was proportional to how long you wanted to lengthen. Then is that minimum ~$80K price a flat rate for the initial surgery or something?

Take out a ruler and look at the lengths you are suggesting.  Then understand you're looking at probably 2 years of recovery from surgery to nail removal, scar removal, and athletic recovery.  Im telling you in good faith this is not something you want to do.

TBF you are being dunked on for asking questions that could be answered with a small amount of research
the procedure will cost the exact same
the price of the nail is fixed
the operation will take the exact same amount of time to perform because the surgery is just the breaking of your bones
your postop hospital stay will be the same

you could potentially be saving money  not from the surgery itself but from cost of living
aka
you would only need to pay for a bout 3 weeks of accomodation
the amount of physio may be shorter so you may be charged for less sessions

so yes you would be spending less but on the lengthening phase not the operation

Here’s the thing:

Yes you would look at very good recovery odds going for something like 2-3 cm. Especially in the femur. However, this is assuming everything goes okay with the procedure itself. Minimizing this risk means going to a good doctor, lets say Paley, which would be about 80-100k all expenses taken into account.

It would still require a lot of training etc + getting the rods and nails removed afterwards. So you are looking at 2-3 years minimum to get back to a decent level of fitness where you are not worried.

So I think the question to ask yourself is whether it isnt better to just stop saying 6 foot and instead say 5 foot 11.5 and save yourself 80-100k along with three years of trouble along with the risk of complications that in the worst case could be permanent.

It would be mostly the same, BUT, one thing overlooked is your post-surgery/recovery accommodations. It'll be slightly cheaper, or maybe a lot, depending on the country/zip code. If you only lengthen 2cm, that'll take less than a month vs the ~3 months it takes to do 8cm.

For example, booking a hotel for 1 month is much cheaper than booking a hotel for 3 months.

go for the "typical" 5-7cm femur and/or 4-5cm tibia and enjoy being 6'1-6'4.

you're gonna wish you went for those 1 or 2 extra inches when you meet someone 6'5+

im 5'10" prob 178cm would going for 5cm be a stupid idea? i have no problems dating but am tired of getting heightmogged (yes im a looksmaxxer). i have no problem getting girls but 6'0 is crucial for me.

i see those types of giants maybe once every few months. personally i don't even see guys that tall as the same species so i don't really care about being shorter than them.
