the pain for the first few days were quite bad like 6/10 bad. I am supposed to apply for a visa but i am just going to overstay and pay a fine instead, because i am already in the country and it’s kinda difficult to extend my stay. Yea i know some patients at the hospital  that spoke english and we found an apartment together. Majority are locals but there were a fee foreigners from Singapore, China, Japan and US. I am lengthening 1mm/day as i do not want any complications or nerve damage. my roommate lengthen at 1.33mm a day and was screaming because of the nerve pain.

omg your roommate screaming in pain... that sounds scary. I imagine pain killers don't work well with nerve pain. Does dr.doan use extra screws to fixate the fibula for LON tibia?

Did you have to apply for the initial visa or did the clinic do it for you?

lost alot of weight about 5kg in 3 weeks. getting on average 4hrs a sleep every night. night time is the worst, morning is the best part of the day. Pain level is about 2/10 every time i wake up from the soreness of the legs. Knee bending is great on the left leg and good on the right leg.

Thank you! I will be 2cm longer in 3 days. No pain that was excruciatingly painful. But I have started to experience some random zaps of electric shock in my shins. Those are about 4/10 but it is only for that instance. Other than that, I think everything is going well, just kinda boring. Only looking forward to my x ray on 9 June which is exactly 3 weeks from now.

Hi! I think 0.75mm is better for tibias. If you feel uncomfortable, just slow down.

after like 19 days of lengthening and sleepless nights i found that taking paracetamol, tramadol and neurotin helps me sleep through the night without pain but I am hoping that taking those pills everyday will at least last me for the next month at least. before they become ineffective due to daily use

my physiotherapist made me stand up for 2 minutes today with the help of a walker. My legs felt extremely heavy. After the session is over my legs feel kinda cold and it aches a lot but it is said to help with recovery. idk about that but i just hope that it gets better as my legs get stronger.

I also hate the part that everytime I bend my knee for a period of time such as hanging my legs over the bed side to do physiotherapy or soak them in warm water there will be an uncomfortable 2/10 aches when i lay back on the bed to straighten my legs. The pain last for 30-45minutes everytime…

hang in there bro, you can do it.
is there a reason why you chose 5cm for tibia?
in your opinion, do you think there will be a significant difference in terms of side effects, if I wanted to go for 6cm in tibia?

Thank you man, just reached 2cm today. I can finally see the end of the tunnel. I plan to only fo 5cm because i am honestly sick and tired of laying in bed all day and everyday with the frames on is a battle. whatsmore, 5cm is safe and is shown to have a faster recovery with low risk of complications.

I've been there, in Vietnam you'll see people do 7cm as the standard, some'll go as crazy as 8 9 10 so you'll feel super safe doing 5cm lol

that’s reassuring, i am getting some type of anxiety now that I have been in vietnam for quite awhile. I came here alone without telling my family or friends and being in a foreign land and not being able to speak the language is making me uneasy. I seem to have lost the ‘confidence’ that i had before doing the surgery, thinking it is some minor surgery.. but now that I have my legs broken, I am seeing the reality that this surgery is not as simple as just a wisdom tooth surgery.

I hope everything will be alright for me and I can return back home safely :(

I am not sure if it is because of the paracetamol and tramadol that are messing with my brain receptors

Perhaps it's time to slow down. I think you should tell your doctor about the pain. Do you feel the pain when you don't have PT?

I cried alot today because the painkillers would not make the pain go away. I had to put ice on my legs to feel a little better. The previous pt was too intense and my body was not ready for it

Since you will probably only do it once isnt it better to get the most out of it? I heard some people regret not going for more after finishing their lengthening, 5cm gains doesnt seem that visible but you do whatever works for you. Good luck!

i like to play it safe and honestly my mental state is telling me to tap out. I am only holding on cause 5cm is the lowest i would tap out at. broke down 4 times this week because of the pain.
