Author Topic: How come paley petients cannot make it to 8cm while other get to 10cm???  (Read 1803 times)

I’m 100 going to Paley institute been reading a lot of diaries and just wondering home come the patients at the institute are not able to reach the full lengths. Like 8cm or even 5 tibia.


Can someone explain how live life taller will get people like 10cm, with their physical therapy, while it's considered rare or impressive to grow even 8cm at the paley? I know they say you shouldn't go past 8cm in the femora bone, but that's not the main question. I'm curious about what kind of physical therapy LLT uses to achieve such big growth being able to plow through pain at the 5cm mark, as it seems like a normal thing for them. It has something to do with the PT.

My theory is that Paley's physical therapists work with a lot of kids, so they may not push as hard during therapy sessions. Compared to other places that do only adults and push harder. That could be the the actual reason paleys patients don’t reach the full length but the non American places blow past 8cm all the way to 10cm.

Just looking at programdudes diary and he even commands the nurses to push harder. And the nurses responses is “that not what we usually get.” That’s at paley instutute’s PT.

10cm is still quite rare even outside America. I suspect Paley restricts to 8cm because he wants to avoid any complications and preserve his reputation as the number 1 surgeon in the field.

Turkish clinics etc don't care as much and have much higher complication rates as a result, but of course you can roll the dice and get lucky. The difference is Paley will probably stop you from screwing yourself up, whereas in Turkey and other non-western places, the one who pays the piper calls the tune - basically it's up to the patient. Which isn't necessarily a 'bad' thing - I certainly don't think doctors are always right - but it does mean if you go to one of those places you need your head screwed on and be honest with yourself about your limits.

That is the best option to keep it around 8cm max for femor. The thing is most people a paley do t even make it to 8cm.

Yet at other places the patients make it to 10cm. It’s the PT that’s making the difference in this situation.

The other thing is I do believe Paley uses precise nails, which have a limit of 8cm in the nail itself.

Using LON or some of the weight bearing albizzia nails (gnail, betzbone) there is no 8cm limit so it can be pushed a bit harder.

1. How do you know how many people reach 8cm with Paley? Did they share this info with you?
2. How do you know how many people reach 10cm with LiveLifeTaller? Did they share this info with you?
3. If you already know so much and confident it's because of PT, why are you asking us?

There's a bit of truth to this. Furthermore the Nuvasive peeps have some hard limits at their nails and 8cm is pretty much around that limit. And this is the technology he's currently implementing.

paley only offers precice for cll, which has a maximum stroke length of 80mm.

You would notice that the Precice 2.2 can actually be pushed past this upper limit; soft tissues permitting.

The Precice 2.2 itself cannot physically be lengthened past 8cm,  you could remove the screws, shorten the rod 2cm(i.e wind the rod backwards using the ERC)  then re-attach screws and lengthen a further 2cm.

Where are you getting your stats from about most Paley patients not being able to reach 8 cm? Just curious how you came up with the numbers. Also I'm assuming here but I highly doubt most Patients who do LON which is what i think you're comparing it to don't reach 10 cm compared to the the amount of patients that receive 8 cm at Paley Institute. Im guessing but I'm considering the amount of patients that cant afford Paley or other US doctors go overseas and from what Ive been hearing lately are getting a lot of complications. Therefore i assume they market the hell out of the ones that get 10 cm but the ones who don't or unfortunately end up with complications are swept under the rug. So i would assume that if you went off percentages I'm sure Paley would have a higher success rate. From everything i read LON is way more painful so im sure out of the many going that route are all getting to 10 cm or even to 8 cm. I would be careful with going to places marketing like this procedure is easy and anyone can do it cause you can just read patient diaries on here and see thats not how its gonna be.

1) LLT has inflated the amount of height their patients gain many times. Maybe it was only 6cm but LLT will advertise 7cm, for example. It seems silly to do that, but they've done it.
2) LLT does not care about long term complications, and will do it if their patient insists and provide the money. A perfect example is @gotmykneesdone on instagram(I am NOT doxxing, he is publicly documenting his limb lengthening story). He went to LLT, went WAY to far, and now has terrible equinus/ballerina foot. And he still wants to lengthen more! It's absolutely shocking that LLT would allow this. Even worse, he thinks nothing is wrong. Anybody pointing out the severity in the comments is attacked by him--he refuses to acknowledge that he's destroying himself. Go and look on his Instagram for yourself, it's completely public and he's documenting his whole story.

tldr;
Paley is plays it safe with his patients and doesn't inflate their height. LLT does not play it safe and inflate their patients height.

QLL in Early 2025 using the PRECICE nail with Dr. Birkholtz.
4cm tibia, 4cm femur. One year later, re-break for another 4+4. 167cm -> 175cm -> 183cm

He did 8cm on tibia with lon, which ist just dumb af. But livelivetaller is probably paying him off, so they can use him as a marketing plant
