Early union - rebreak?
« on: May 02, 2023, 10:57:32 AM »

I had an early union but didn't reach my goal on femurs.

Is there any reason not to rebreak the bone to continue lengthening?

If your doctor is competent and knows what he is doing, there is no reason not to rebreak

One reason could be you're satisfied and don't want another surgery.

yeah but the surgery will be so easy for the rebreak. it's a tinier incision, and only 1 cut needs to happen. They use a smaller tool because the rebreak is easier than the original break. It's like literally a 20 min surgery.

How far short of your goal did you get?  How many total CM did you do?

If it's something your ortho bro is willing to do; another osteotomy can (in principle) be performed directly below or above the original site.
