I recently posted about my surgery and a couple of people said it was rare to see fitbone being used in the U.S.  I was wondering if anyone had any insight on why this is?  Is it inferior to some of the equipment available now?  This was covered by insurance since it was a congenital condition so maybe that's why he used it?  i don't know but any insight would be helpful thank you!

yes precise nail is considered more modern

peter thaller in germany prefers precise even though he used fitbone before (see cyborg4life youtube channel)

Because fitbone has the biggest failure rate compared to any other internal nail and especially compared to precise which is a magnetic nail too.

Where did you read that fitbone has the biggest failure rate? I'd like to read that myself

Fitbone's largest nail has a max load of 20 kg = 44 pounds. Also it is not reversible.

Precice 2's largest nail has a max load of 75 pounds and is reversible.

That's why Fitbone is not used for bilateral leg lengthening surgery.

I only had it done to one leg, not bilateral.  If I had both, then I see why fitbone no doubt would be a worse option.
