Agreed, this is pretty disturbing
Damn, I was hoping to do nail removal just one year after the initial gnail surgery but I'm wondering now if I should wait longer just in case? Like 1.5 years minimum?
Not sure
I mean the things still under control in the short term are:
- vitamin D doses
- Calcium, magnesium
- getting the x-rays done
- getting enough walking practice while the nails are in to stimulate bone growth
- Dunno, I could also eat bone broth soup or those small white soft bones of pork ribs or very small sardine bones? not sure if that actually helps or not though
There is the sort of "well if I leave the nails in too long, the bone could grow so much that it covers up the screw heads, which will be very annoying for the surgeon/might require a bit more cutting/digging and I think a somewhat bigger scar". When faced with the fear of the bones breaking from removing it too early, this fear seems small though. Unsure how to weigh things
I dunno, after nail removal, should we play things super safe for a few months? Ex: no fast movements for a while, cane use, maybe even walker use on slippery surfaces like ice or water?
