For example you agreed prior to the surgery to have Antegrade femur insertion but you wake up and find your surgeon inserted the femur nail retrograde through the knee because they said it was more suitable. Can a surgeon be sued for this?

if you have proof on what was agreed on then probably. your not allowed to perform medical acts on someone without consent obviously. unless it would save them from death

Yes, you can sue if the operation is done except for the surgery on the paper you signed.

I'm almost certain in the consent you signed it covers the procedure, regardless of method of insertion.  Also, the nail is in place and lengthening...does it really matter the direction of insertion?

Yes,you can sue them. The doctor should not be doing anything without the patient's consent.

To get an idea of whether you can win or not, it depends on any papers you signed and the law where the procedure was done.
