mock up opinions?
« on: August 04, 2014, 12:36:44 AM »

hello guys, me again with the mock up:
evening height 179.6cm
morning height 181.5cm
wingspan 183cm
inseam(measured standing with back against a wall and sliding a book up between my legs untill it stops) 82.2cm
footsize 12(46euro)
hand size 23cm
arm length(from middle finger to end of shoulder) 80cm +/- a few mm
goal height 184.6 at my lowest, 186.5 at my highest

what do you think looks best, and do my arms look short in the mock ups, can i pull off the 6'1" look?

why so angry, just because im not a midget im not alowed to do the surgery? get real man, if you have an issue, go work it out somewhere else. this forum is for people to exchange experiance and help each other not to be douchebags. =)

No one is midget here. Anyone of us make 7 cm on one segment we are exactly where you are now. So don't delude yourself by thinking you are not short by any standard.

What im saying is. You are gonna do this surgery only once and you are already of above average height. So your proportions will already be eligible for the procedure without further investigation on proportional dilemmas. get 6-7 cm and call it the day.

Go and work out in the gym instead. You're too fat for surgery.

I understand your desire for wanting to be taller. I'm 179 now myself and not happy.

5cm on tibias is enough and you'll heal up alright.

What bodyfat % would you recommend for surgery. I would assume not to low since you loose weight during the surgery,

Both look fine to me. Femur looks a bit more natural in my opinion. What's your sitting height? What pant inseam fits you best?

I would say not more than 15-18%.

There were fat guys that barely could fit their legs in the rings. They also had infections in some pin sites.

Most of the times fat guys haven't prepared their muscles, tendons, nerves for the surgery and have a hard time lengthening.
Their muscles are not used to large stress.

Even if you loose weight during lengthening you will gain fat%. It is your muscles that you loose.
You can be a really skinny guy but still have 20+% body fat.
It depends on what you put in your pie hole every day. ;)

I was terrible against myself with lots of Red Bull(Damn you Max  ;D ), chocolate, sweets, Domino's Pizza and other crap.
I just fell in to the trap bc otherwise I always eat very strict, no sugar or salt and always prepared for the next competition.

Sugar is my weakness  :( I need my coach to tell me what to eat.
We're going to start this in the end of this month.  8)

hey Tall, my sitting height is somewhere around 97. Pant inseam that fits me best is 30 but i wear levis 501 wich are pretty loose between the legs. When i try a more fitting pair of trousers its 31

Go and see a tailor and tell him it's for a racing suit so you need the exact measurements.

That's the best way :)

so the correct way is with a tape measure and going with the leg and not from the croch straight to the floor like i did it?

You seem to have X-legs, I would recommend tibs so you could fix that issue at the same time!

thank you on your post G-Man, however i think ill do femurs just because ive measured myself just today and came to realize that my tibs are 46cm. according to davinci that is the tibia length of a person that is 184cm tall. my inseam is around 82-83 cm, taking into account my 46cm tibs, that would make my femurs 36-37cm wich is really short compared to tibs, so i think ill do femurs but its a long road till the beginning of my journey so im not 100% sure yet.

You are doing this seriously wrong.

There is no chance in the history of mankind that your femurs are shorter than your tibias.

Why is this so hard to understand?

okay sorry, but if my tibia length is 46 cm to just below the knee and my overall height being 180cm with my legs on the shorter side, every normal person can conclude that i have short femurs. like you said not shorter than my tibias( i can see now and i know i was mistaken, sorry), but short enough that femur lengthening would be a better choice, after i peal off 10-15kg of fat and get my university degree so i can get the money in the first place.  ;D.

Do you have any data to backup your statement? It's clear on the pics his tibia is pretty long.

Kunt kinte, are you actually 1.8m? You look 1.7m judging on your legs to torso proportions and small hands. What's your sitting height?

yeah i am actually 1.8m (181.5cm morning, 179.5cm evening), i have no reason to lie. sitting height is around 96-97 depending if its the morning or evening, my inseam is about 82-84cm. and in regard to my hands, theyre 21cm(measured it wrong the first time 23cm) wich isnt that small in my opinion but theyre next to my monster size thigh so they may look small for that reson.

If you are 5'5 and under. Then i think you can have equal heigt in tibia an femur maybe 55% in femur but nevertheless pretty identical.

Do 5-6cm on tibias with just externals. This is the least invasive surgery and the most reliable compared to internals. You don't have to worry about nail failure, nail breakage, permanent knee pain and the higher chance of pulmonary embolism associated with nail insertion. Ilizarov frames are full weight bearing and cheaper as well. Longer tibias will give also give a taller appearance when sitting down. Frame time should be around 7-8 months with 5-6cm. If you feel that you can't cope with the long frame time then you have the option of nail insertion later on.

I was thinking about it at first but I realized that I have long tibias and it would look very weird if I go on and lengthen them further, best option for me is femur lengthening You're right and I agree with you to the max, longer tibias look better and make you appear taller.
