Hardest Part During Limb Lengething
« on: January 25, 2023, 10:51:09 PM »

Hello LL Community.
So many prospective patients are curious about what they will face when undergoing LL. There are many obstacles you must overcome during LL which are no walk in the park. Hopefully this poll will better gauge what people should be prepared for when undergoing CLL.
Previous patients, What was the biggest obstacle you have encountered when undergoing CLL?

I am going to be posting and bumping a few polls in order to get more categorical data on CLL.
Feel free to elaborate

Hardest part for me was the constant insomnia. Sleeping pills only helped so much and there were times I was so exhausted and wanted to sleep but just couldn't.

Yeah, being mildly uncomfortable non-stop for 4.5 months straight really wears you down physically and mentally.

how does it compare to the constant low to high level discomfort of height dysphoria. I expect when I get this done it will honestly be less pain daily just trading mental pain for physical pain but physical pain for a purpose!

You should have put lengthening every day (clicking).  That would be my choice.

LL is like taking all your future neurosis pain and bottling it/condensing it into a few month time frame.

How bad was your pain right out of surgery for its worst and how long did it last for?
And how bad was that surgical pain compared to the clicking pain? Is it the lengthening of the bone that is more painful or the clicking motion itself that hurts like a bitch?

The surgical pain doesnt matter at all.  It lasts like a few days and then its over.  It definitely sucks but it comes and goes and then its done.  The clicking however is a marathon of pain and discomfort.  Every day you have to do this sh!t.  And knowing its an everyday thing messes with your head.

Its both, the clicking hurts and feels unnatural, this is by far the worst part.  And then when you're done you have this mild distraction pain that lasts for like half the day and you also you get tight and everything you did to get loose is evaporated and you start over.

youre definitely right about the initial pain that it goes away quick and its a distant memory

but about the daily clicks, how much painkillers do you take? it shouldnt be such a torturous process with the clicks, especially its said betzbone clicks easier than guichet nail

as per the topic subject, for me as a lon tibia patient, id say the hardest part was to get used to back sleeping after a lifetime of side sleeping in the fetal position. took me 3 weeks of semi-insomnia to get used to it

if i could i wouldve taught myself back sleeping for 6 months before i started the LL process

I think some people have an easier time with the clicking.  I just absolutely hate it.

Honestly it seems people hate different things.  Like for me the stretching is no big deal.  I did like 4 hours this morning of stretching, walking and bike riding.  Whatever, that was easy.

And I like sleeping on my back, but you hated that.  So its just individual I suppose.

I take a fentanyl before I click.  100 micrograms (not to be confused with milligrams)

that would require being hit by a car every single day
