over 1 year after G-nail: lower inner thigh pain
« on: January 24, 2023, 12:11:53 AM »

Over 1 and a half years since full consolidation after my G-nail femur surgery and I am still no where near full recovery. Perhaps I shouldn't have done 8cm...

Going up stairs gives me sharp pain in the lower inner thigh. Because of this pain I cannot climb up stairs unless I am holding the railing to pull myself up. Do any other femur veterans have this pain?

Is the nail still in there? Have you had an xray and looked at the picture yourself to see if there is any hardware sticking through the bone in that area or any area above or below there where it could be triggering it? If you have an xray of any such hardware feel free to post so we can give feedback.

How is you hamstring flexibility currently?

Can you be more specific?  Is the pain near your groin or is it on the backside of your thigh like below your butt?

Pain is in my inner thigh, not hamstrings. It's in the middle of the leg so it's not hardware sticking out. It's just the muscles stings and feels like cuts every time I climb stairs, so I need to hold on the a railing to not apply too much pressure.

I think its time you get professional help like at the Paley institute or something.  Thats what I would be doing.

If its actually muscle related and in the inner mid thigh I would think stretching your groin would help.  But Im sure you've tried this.

Maybe your overlengthened a bit, but I wouldn't think to much about it, unless the pain is extreme. Otherwise it will properly subside with time, since it takes some patients up to 2 years to fully recover!
