How can I stop worrying about proportions?
« on: January 17, 2023, 10:16:26 AM »

Feels like I'm more worried about proportions then the actual complications and long-term effects of LL. Proportions are probably the least of my worries of this surgery. However I keep obsessing over about my wingspan being 2-3inches shorter then my height, femurs being too long, torso too short if I get LL

Has any LL veterans proportions turn out better then they thought they were gonna be after LL?

Just ask yourself whether you analyzed or ever cared about somebody else's proportions prior to considering doing LL and especially after hopping on these forums

Do a mock-up. If you feel comfortable with your proportions and how you look in it, then you can chill a bit about what your post LL proportions will be. Also, you can look up what the mean and standard deviations are for the proportions you're most concerned about and calculate how much you can lengthen without going past say 1.5 stdev if you want to think about it in a analytical instead of visual way.  One thing I did was buy a full length mirror. I throw on some elevator shoes and I've got a great sense of how I'd look post tibia LL. Good luck on your LL journey.

Bro, take it as what it is. You will never look like a 6ft man. They are built different.
Everything scales up. Their arms, hands, wrists, legs, feet, torso. If you are so worried
that you will look like slenderman then dont get it done. Simple as that...

this is only true if everyone was a statistical average, there is definitely enough variance in sizes that a 5'8 person could LL indistinguishably to look like someone 6'0. especially considering nobody actually cares about very specific proportions in real life. just be concerned about having out of proportion leg segments and too short arms, torso length and hand size etc is pretty irrelevant as there are 6 foot+ tall people who have torso sizes the same as ppl 5'5 or even less. plus a leggy look isn't even bad tbh I mean its kinda slightly considered more feminine to have longer legs but it still looks Fine in men... as long as you dont look like an alien or a t-rex

regarding leg segments, you could do 2 ll's or quad and make it so your leg ratios Never change. for the arms yeah I know people here will cry about how arm lengthening  isn't neccesary but if you think you'll look bad with too short arms I would go with this strategy.

first do tibia leghtening 4-7cm (ive done a ton of research and im not sure how high u can go on tibs but it seems 7 is pretty much the max for most people reasonably). Even if the tibs look a bit strange, ive found that longer tibs definitely look better than longer femurs.

your already 5'8 so this would get u to like 5'10-11 which is a very good height, at that point and I think you'd find your dysphoria would go away.

but if your dysphoria doesn't go away then you'd have already gone thru the experience and would be well - versed enough to know if its safe and what your tolerance is and then you could make the proper choice, if you wish to continue to get 5-8cm in the femurs then id go for arm lengthening, from which you can gain up to 10cm of wingspan from which would put you in a good range there. you could have a 6'0 wingspan and even if your arms are shorter than a 5'11 wingspan will look fine on someone 6'0.

Then of course if all is good after that do femurs.

this is all much easier said then done but from what I can tell this would work for you provided you have the dedication and money.

Also from reading a few medical papers it seems that arm lengthening is supposedly easier than leg lengthening but obviously not easy.
