So I am going to be posting a few of polls in the discussion in order to get some numerical data from the LL Community.
So one big concern people have when choosing to undergo CLL surgery is the pain, which is understandable as they are breaking both of your legs. I am probably going to be going with an internal nail (precise 2.2) as I believe it is the least painful and safest option, and thankfully I can (barely) afford it.

To those who have went through this procedure with an internal method, preferably the precise 2.2, it would be greatly appreciated if you would vote on the pain levels so myself and other prospective patients can better gage what they are getting themselves into. Please vote primary based on the surgical pain out of the hospital.

Feel free to elaborate more on your vote as well. If this gets enough votes I will probably make a poll for LON and other external methods.

there has to be trolling going on.. can mods make a verified LL role or something? no way those stats are correct. people on here would have you believe LL is like every single day your legs are being dug into with a knife and then as soon as you stand up you get hit by a car and then satan himself comes and gives you a pedicure... but the stats say its just pretty painful.. I guess people who aren't in extreme pain are less likely to be talking about it. Also would like to take into account if the 10/10 pain people are doing it in turkey or India or with bad doctors.

Currently poll says "moderate pain" which is also pretty much my experience (with a few peaks that were worse). How is that "easy"?

2 days post-op. Haven't felt any pain except maybe heavy femurs at points.

People don't understand the wonders of pain med. If there is no pain med then for sure 10/10 main. But they put you on pain med to make sure you're floating around 5/10. Literally stubbing your toe hurts more than any of the pain you'd feel in the entire time.
The reason people complain about CLL is because of the constant aching and discomfort of lengthening and not walking that never ends. 6-8 months before you're walking is more painful than being punched in the face by Mike Tyson 5 times in a row.

Pain tolerance varies on so many different factors. People don’t really understand there’s two pains that come from this surgery. One is the pain from the trauma, and two is the pain from the lengthening. Day after surgery I was on morphine and floating, laughing, and goofing off with all the nurses.

Day 2 they cut off my morphine and I felt the worst pain I’ve ever felt. Mind you - I have broken ribs, my nose, torn ACL’s, had my jaw shattered, etc. I have NEVER felt a pain like this in my life. The worst part? They wanted me walking day 2. Even the smallest slip of the walker would make me feel a shooting pain up my legs and my hips. Now, with that being said it got bette after about 5 days.

Then the lengthening pain came. At about 20mm my feet ballooned up, I was taking Percocet 3x a day and was still in remarkable pain. The nerve pain started after about 30mm, that felt like someone was electrocuting my legs from my tibias down to the points of my toes.

The worst part for me was the pain on top of the weird reaction I had to the pain medicine. I tapered off the Percocet, but was vomiting for 3 months after - morning and night. I lost 45lbs and I turned greyish/yellow from not eating or drinking anything. To this day my doctor claims he has never seen this in a patient. I was put on every damn anti nausea medicine that a doctor could prescribe. Nothing worked. Eventually it subsided and I could eat again.

I had to stop at 78mm because of a leg contracture in my left leg. Mind you I was a femur patient and I’m 9 months out, and still can’t bend my legs past 120 degrees.

Surgery pain 10/10
Lengthening pain 9/10

Yeah, I have broken my pelvis, broken my Fibula and ankle and had it plated, had a spinal fusion, had sinus's bored out, torn my ribs, a lot of dental surgery, I didn't complain much through any of this -  but I still found LL pain/tension/weird nerve pain issues really tough, lost about 4 kg, and I only did one leg (Precice Fem. 8cm) at a time.
I found heat/cool bags, and deep heat/Ice cold creams helped, both times it was hard to wean myself off Endone/Tramadol, I tried to only use pills when trying to sleep or the pain and tension were wearing me down too much.
