So I have been wearing lifts during the holidays.  I figure if I cant pass this off now I sure as hell wont be able to pass it off later.

My total shoe height matches my procedure height which is coming up soon (5CM). Wont get into details but Ive set this up so Im wearing shoes all the time in a non-obvious way.

Anyway, weve been out and about and my dad is like trying to figure out why Im taller in his head.  Except he doesnt look at me as tall, hes looking at himself as short.  Like looking at his shoes, then looking back at me.  Like the gears are spinning but nothing is registering.  The confusion is getting hilarious.  Ive really set this up in a way where lifts are not something he would think of.  But it perfectly matches what others describe.  Theres this puzzle going on and its just really funny to watch and act oblivious to.  Note that I have a somewhat legit medical reason to be taller though which Im not going to get into.  So your experience may vary if you dont have any sort of excuse.

I wore 3 inch lifts and found them to be uncomfortable if you go to mall or any kind of extensive walking. More power to you for using 5cm!

Amen, I honestly hate wearing lifts. Hurt my feet after an hour, only wear them when I go out drinking cause the alcohol numbs the pain lol.

Lmao, 3 inches does sound like a pain to walk in, youre in high heel territory.  And its honestly just too much to hide. If I did 3 my dad would have said wtf are you doing.  Its just too obvious.  2 inches is possible if you carefully craft a narrative and are smart about it.  If you have no males in the family you could get away with 3 maybe but thats the only way.  Or if all males are nowhere near your height.

Nah I dont give af about being my regular height in public.  (Bothers me in my private life tho).  But just trying to set a new normal for family right now.  Big weight lifted off my shoulder knowing it worked.  Cant wait to get home and take these things out of my damn shoes and know ill never need them again.

Oh have you started or in the process of lengthening rn? Lifts are temporary in my opinion, you can’t do it forever. What happens when have to take off your shoes? No legitimate excuse for us lol

No i start in about 2 weeks.  Im just wearing them to get family used to my new height.  I dont live around my family so I wont see them for many months…after Im completely done.  My family all wears shoes indoors so its easy.

Oh nice! I myself start next week in Athens with Dr G. How long are you anticipating recovery to be with betzbone? When do you think you’ll walk with normal gait? Did Becker or Betz tell you?

Im expecting my recovery to take between 4-6 months until walking completely normal.  Really hoping im on the shorter end at the 4 month mark, but this is ideal and it doesnt always work out that way.  Becker said plan on 6 months.

4 weeks - extend your range to about 1-2 km walking. Train to walk without crutches
8 weeks - walking without crutches should be possible, if you focus - almost normal gait pattern. If not, wobbeling gait (normal during the lengthening period)
9 weeks - you reached 5 cm and could decide to stop (or go on, dependent on your performance/recovery/feeling)
12 weeks - if you stopped at 9weeks, almost fully recovery is expectable.

ONLY IF you reach all goals above ( which would be the best case scenario )
if you have any pain level issue or unable to walk as long , sleeping problem  ETC . it will take longer to heal .

some people recover faster than others , some slower .

I have seen people walking without assist 4 months after surgery , precise 2.2 , non weight bearing . He did 8 CM too ..guy was in his early 20s and very active too .

Sure....but theres a difference between walking without assist and not looking like you just got hit by a car.  At 12 weeks I cant imagine you look normal.

How could you walk without assistance 4 months post op with precice? The lengthening period is 3 months alone there is no way he'd walk with no bones and just the precice nails unless he is 50lbs.
