Hello,

I would fly to Turkey in mid-January 2023 and look at 3 large leg lengthening clinics.

1. Livelifetaller.
Unfortunately they have increased their prices for LON femur from 25k to 35k. This includes the operation, accommodation and all meals and physiotherapy.

2. Global Orthopedic Group. This clinic is supposed to be new, very modern, the doctors are called Dr. Metin Kucukkaya (has ben worked with the likes of Dr Donghooon Lee in South Korea and Dr Peter Thallar in Germany) and Dr Sami Soduco. Their rehabilitation team has been trained and worked with the ICCLL in Baltimore and Dr. Payley in the US. A LON femur costs 35 k. This includes the operation, accommodation and all meals and physiotherapy. (I got the information from an employee of the clinic via Whatsapp)

3. Prof Dr Yuksel YURTTAS | Limb Lengthening Surgery in Turkey. According to this forum and the staff, Dr. Yurttas must be very experienced and his phisiotherapy must be of a standard level. I will also look at his clinic and here is the price for LON Femur 25 k. This includes the operation, accommodation and all meals and physiotherapy. (Presumably they also increased their prices due to inflation)

It's difficult for me to make a decision because in this forum the employees always talk about themselves. I don't know which patient testimonials are bought and which are real. That's why I want to personally fly to Turkey for the days to see the clinics, the doctors, the patients and the quality of the physiotherapy team.

What would you advise me to look for? Of course, the patient experience is the most important thing to me. What else should I look out for? My goal is it doesn't matter to gain at least 8 cm with upper or lower leg and to get bigger. My maximum budget is 35 k, my bank doesn't give me more as a loan :(. Do you have any other suggestions and clinics in Istanbul that I should look at? Only when I have developed a good feeling for a clinic will I have a leg lengthening operation in March 2023.

Greetings and sorry for my English.

I would suggest look for a surgeon who is very experienced and known for Limb Lengthening mainly in deformity correction because this is how you can determine a good surgeon. Maybe ask to see XRays although they may not be able to provide because of patient confidentiality but its worth a try.

Also having a very experienced rehabilitation team and after care is extremely important because like Dr Payley said the surgery is the easiest part for a good surgeon but the rehabilitation is challenging and most important they are specially trained in limb lengthening.

Ask the surgeon how many surgeries they have done and also how experienced they are in treating complications too

Out of them, Dr Metin Kucukkaya is definitely the most experienced and renowned surgeon and with his team of rehabilitation specialists is one of the reasons I am also considering him for my own surgery. Not only good surgeons but good rehab team too, which many patients underlook the importance of having a specialised rehab team for your surgery.

I think it is a good idea that you are visiting them too but of course its not about a fancy facility, the most important thing is to speak with the surgeon and physios and find out there experience, find our where they were trained and by who, how much experience they have and see jounal articles online, maybe other good surgeons know of them too and then when you are clear on their experiences it might be easier for you to make a decision

I am sure all are good but please let us know once you visited the surgeons

Good luck!

I would not recommend none of them. Especially stay away from livelifetaller.. Most of their patients ends up disabilities or irreversible complications.
I will have my surgery next week from Dr. Fatih. They have very good results..
Their company is called Lengthening Turkey. They offer accommodation included packages for both LON and precice.

I called the Global Orthopedic Group and had a very good impression last week. I inquired about lengthening and it seems to be 66 000 USD for Precice 2 (all included). It also seems to be about 120 000 USD$ for quadrilateral (surgeries roughly 3 weeks apart).

They have two doctors, Sami Sokucu and Metin Kucukkaya, the inquired prices should be for Metin but opting to do the surgeries with Sami should cost less. Their physiotherapy team is really their selling point, they also do not take in many patients.

Me too I had a good impression too although I think those prices were for Dr Sami and perhaps slightly higher for Dr Metin Kucukkaya but that’s understandable since he is one of the goat surgeons.

If anyone is going in next few months perhaps we can plan to go together, it would be nice?

CLL was the one thing in my life I was not bargain-hunting for.  Compromising your health and ability to walk was not going to be part of my plan.  I was willing to pay top dollar for this procedure and decided to go with Dr. Paley.  No regrets.

People still go to turkish butchers after dozens of horror stories from LL'ers that went there and were crippled.

Some of you are even naive or simply st*pid.

Hmm weird that they quoted you for 66,000 USD. I sent them a email three weeks ago to ask about their price and they told me that it was 90,000 USD. We need a clarification from them about prices.

This. Its worth paying 60k for the procedure in a first world country like Germany or the US. You only have one chance to do this right. Never and under no circumstances do LON

What did you pay? What does Dr. Paley for leg surgery to grow up to 8 cm?

Do you have evidence that some patients have been crippled or have you read it somewhere and you think that's the truth? Do you know a patient who became crippled? If so, which doctor did he see?

There are a lot of diaries of patients who were crippled by Turkish or Indian LL surgeons. In my opinion, this is only the tip of the iceberg since most of the crippled patients don't make public statements due to shame and fear. Especially, crippled Asian and Japanese patients won't show up because they would lose their face when complaining about these LL butchers.

Guys

GLOBAL ORTHOPEDIC GROUP did not exist 6 months ago.

Some very shady guy from London named “Asim” who wouldn’t give any background about himself, reached out because he wanted to partner up with a known name of Limb Lengthening to offer cheaper LL options in Turkey.

To me They’re another greedy turkish clinics owned by god knows who, and that just wants to make a quick buck. Their physical therapists were NOT trained at ICLL

Beware of them as soon we will start seeing diaries about them like the other ones we read about from Turkey.

There are plenty of diaries and posts here with horror stories from Turkey. And from India too of course but we are talking about Turkey here.
I really can't believe how there are still people giving plenty of money to turkish doctor crooks to ruin themselves while they can do LL with the same money on first world countries like Italy and Greece.

FYI you might be able to do limb lengthening with precise in the US for $66k or even less. I paid less than that. I don't see why anyone would go to Turkey when you can pay the same amount and get the safety/protection of doing this in the US. By the way, it's not that I don't think it is possible to get good healthcare somewhere other than the US. But I think there is enough evidence that there clearly is not enough regulation of this procedure in Turkey given the complications patients have had and continue to have.

True unless its a surgeon like Dr Metin Kucukkaya who is a well known specialist in the field. He is the only surgeon to be trusted in Turkey imo. Wherever you go you must make sure your surgeon and team of physios etc are all experts in the field of Limb Lengthening.

Check their journal articles or ask other reputable surgeons if they have heard of your surgeon names do your research!

Thanks for the info, it did feel like they showed up out of nowhere. Dr. Donghoon Lee did recommended Dr. Metin which made me think they were legit. The guy on the phone said the reason why the bank we send money to is in London is because "people are afraid to send money to Turkey", but now I am starting to wonder whether the whole thing is just a big scam from someone in London.

Totally normal to have concerns about them, because you are right they did come out of nowhere. I’m waiting for the interview of Dr. Metin on Cyborg4Life to verify things.

Also, I have another story about this:

#1. Their website led to a 404 error just 2 months ago.

#2. I tried to contact another doctor in Turkey for LL, his name was Serkan Gurcan. The doctor gave me a consultants phone to ask questions.  The person I contacted them tried to make me not go to Gurcan and tried to push me towards Global Orthopedic Group. He kept going on and on about Paley trained physiotherapy. Also, he had a London accent, and was very salesmany, like he was trying to sell me a car or something. It was weird because I tried to contact him for Gurcan and he got mad and tried to push me towards Global Orthipedic Group. After that, I didn't feel comfortable so I didn't contact them again.
