Guitchet nail or precice 2 nail with Dr Giotikas?
« on: December 06, 2022, 07:09:37 PM »

This is my first time posting on this forum as I now feel committed about this operation.I’ve been considering doing CLL for a while and decided that dr Giotikas was the best surgeon with the most affordable price after reading many reviews.

However Im not sure which method will be more comfortable/safe or which method will have the fastest recovery time. Is there any way I can recover in 4 months from 6-7cm using either of these methods?I understand the guitchet nail is weight bearing but will that really give that much of an advantage in recovery?

For a bit of insight, Im 18, about 172.5cm and am hoping for 178+ Weighing at 61kg.
I’m also very paranoid about how I walk and I’m worried about getting something like duckass after consolidation as I hope to return to school straight after. Also , how reliable is dr Giotikas? Are there any negative reviews I would worry about before going with him?

I would really appreciate any replies or suggestions on my situation thanks.

Hey man,
I have surgery scheduled with Giotikas with G-nail in mid-January. But I still have doubts about Betzbone. Despite finding the nail better than g-Nail, I believe that Giotikas is more experienced than the new surgeon Becker. Banda ITB's bid seems not to be well accepted by them, which makes me more in favor of going to Athens. Did you not consider Betz?

Thanks for responding really appreciate it,

Firstly I wish you all the best with your surgery but No, I haven’t considered dr betz at all. Considering he’s new, I doubt I would comfortable with him operating on me at all. My initial plan was to search for clinics in Poland as I’m from there but haven’t come across any doctors that really offer good methods with reasonable pricing.

Have you heard of any bad experiences with dr Giotikas?Seems difficult to find negative reviews on him.

You won't find many negatives because most patients turn out with positive outcomes. And the few that Ive seen where complications arised, they were treated promptly.

You'll be in safe hands. Their team is competent.
4 months on average is not enough for a complete recovery.

6cm lengthening can be achieved in exactly 2 months from surgeryif going with Gnail. Which leaves you another  2 to consolidate.

Precice nails have aicj longer recovery period as your legs will be like skeleton only after finishing lengthening. Whilst with Gnail, if you've had no complications, youll retain a small bit very important amount of muscles.

But anyway, after 2 months of consolidate with Gnail, most patients are able to walk unaided indoor, perhaps with a bit of a limp or similar, but close to look normal.

I wouldn't worry too much about school. Just prepare a solid excuse for when you get back (you torn your ACL. You had an accident...). I'm using the ACL story quote a lot and it works.

I am a G-nail femur patient btw who did it with Dr G. In Greece.  Just starting consolidation after an 8cm lengthening

Technically the Gnail can extend past 10cm. I could have gone easily to 9cm from a physical perspective. Maybe even more (no more nerve pain means I didn't really feel anything stopping me).

I obviously just started consolidation so I can't speak from experience but if you search the forum, there's se sort of consensus around the recovery time which equals the distraction time.

So in my case, the lengthening phase lasted about 105 days.
Expecting my gait to go back to normal in that much time from now.

I, now am not walking unaided almost at all. I can only do baby steps and go from one corner of the house to another. Limping like an old penguin on drugs.

Jokes apart, no my gait at the moment is totally off. Duck ass, stiff legs, weak glutes and hip flexor makes basic movements (walking) very hard but...

As others already commented, when I spend like a good 1 hour warming up, doing glutes bridges and other excercises, stretching of the hamstrings and hip flexor... Then my unaided walking gait is much, much better.

The secret is the consistency in the excercise and stretching regime

Well I think it depends on how many patients he's currently scheduled to do. It sounds (reading the forum) that he must be pretty busy.

Just book the free 15 mins consult and he'll tell you. Or send them a quick email
