I have an excuse to get away for 4 months.  All I need to do at 4 months is be able to go to dinner once and then I have another month or so to recover more.

Im doing internal Betzbone 5CM femurs.  Is there any decent chance this is enough time to walk normally enough to pass it off?

One thing that should help is Betz does ITB release with every patient now.  Duck ass/wide leg seems to be the hardest thing to get rid of for those that develop it and really makes your walk look unnatural.

Please only answer if you have done LL around this much with internals.

Thank you.

5 CM femur = 1mm a day , 5 cm = 50 days plus 10 days ( break or rest between surgery to LL )
betzbone = weight bearing , 60 days to be able to walk with a Cane is totally doable .

I did 8 cm with precise 2.2 , not weight bearing . IT band released during surgery .

I stayed in bed for 6 and half months , 4 weeks after I was cleared to walk , I was walking with a cane and left 85% right 100% .

taking another X ray in couple weeks .

Im more hopeful with that, but maybe I'm naive.

This guy is 42 days into consolidation after 8CM with Stryde which is basically the same as Betzbone:

His biggest issue is clearly wide leg but Im curious if he had an ITB release as I will have.

I know another guy who did 7 cm Tibia , he LL for 4 months ( 0.75 mm a day ), and he was able to walk with a cane POST LL , because he only weights 120 lbs ....

precise 2.2 can weight bears up to 150 lbs  XD . and he is recovering pretty fast too .

5 CM heals MUCH FASTER than 7 cm and 8 cm too ..

Heres him 30 days into consolidation.  He doesnt seem to need a cane...  But maybe he usually uses one except for this video?  No idea.

What do you mean 60 days to walk with a cane?  I expect to walk with a cane 1 week post surgery like most do with Betzbone.

"5 CM heals MUCH FASTER than 7 cm and 8 cm too .."

For sure, thats why Im hoping I can walk mostly normal if this guy is not too far off 42 days into consolidation.

I will say though this guy is extraordinarily flexible.  He can touch his toes even after 8CM LL which is sort of remarkable. Im in very good shape, but my flexibility is not at that level.

well , we are walking with CANES because precise 2.2 is partial weight bearing nail
and we have to wait for our Doctor to clear us .

I walk around house with nothing , look a little funny cause i shift my weight to my right leg a lot ( the 100% one) lol .

with weight bearing you can do a lot more .

Oh ok.  Yeah if I was non-weight bearing I wouldnt think i had any shot at this timeline.  4 months is already pushing it and I know it.  Im just curious if theres any decent chance with this set up from those that had weight-bearing and modest LL.  Trying to be realistic though.

with weight bearing nails , you are walking post surgery , there is no deconditioning on your muscles . so pretty much you will be LL for 2 months and walking for 4 months .

POST LL , your recovery speeds up a lot faster . my 2 cents is you will be OK .

eat a lot , rest a lot , walk as mush as you can .

Yeah I mean I can probably extend it if needed but its going to start to get really suspect at that point.

For sure Im going to put everything I have into recovery. Thanks.

4 months might not be enough. It is a bit risky in terms of timeline but who knows. Good luck. When are you doing your surgery?

Yeah I know its close.  I dont want to hope though I want to be realistic.  So if anyone thinks its a ridiculous timeline I hope they say so.  Or if possible that too.  But with a modest 5CM, weight bearing, and I work for myself so I can dedicate all my time to recovery I was thinking maybe its possible.

Surgery is in early January.  Coming up fast.

If you stop at 5cm 4 months is enough
You will be doing 1mm/day until like 3cm then 0.78mm for the rest.
Duckass doesn’t stem from it band but honestly at 5 cm you will have no duckass at all.
You still will need to stretch the side but you won’t get wide legs if you don’t neglect stretching. At 5 cm you will recover fast

What is the best stretch I can do to avoid wide legs/duck ass?  You're saying a side stretch so like put leg over body and move it to the opposite side?

There is only one that does the trick: https://imgur.com/a/eCvxk8Y

Works great though I have 0 wide legs since I did this a lot.

You won’t get duckass with 5cm. But lie on stomach and pull the feet to your back to stretch the quads to fight duckass.

But honestly as long as you follow what they will tell you you don’t need to ask here. They gonna show u everything.
