What should I lengthen
« on: July 15, 2014, 11:42:05 PM »

Hi guys, I know I'm boring as this is the 2nd topic I've open in two days, but please don't judge me. :D

So, if you devide femur length with tibia lenght the optimal result should be 0.8. In my case I was often told i have short femurs but when i do the calculations it turns out to be false.

inseam: 82.5cm
tibia(measured from the floor to just below the knee cap): 45cm
femur: I just took these to measurements to get a femur length of 37.5 cm

Now when i devide it it comes out to 0.83, wich is optimal(I think people and me as well get the impression of short femurs cuz i carry a lot of mass in them).

If I should lengthen one segment what do you think is better, femur or tibia?

In case of femur lengthening(4cm):
37.5 + 4 = 41.5 making the ratio 0.92

In case of tibia lengthening(4cm)
45 + 4 = 49 making the ratio 0.77

So what do you think is better?

Measurements are:

height(morning) 181.6cm
        (night) 179.5cm
wingspan 183-4cm
inseam and each leg segment length is evidented up in the post.
sitting height is about 97-98

4 femurs, there are a lot of people with femurs noticeably much longer than tibias and they're natural

Thank you for your answer Hallijah. I still can't help but feel that it will look ridicolous somewhat being that in the past few months I've been comparing tibia length with people I'm sitting next to. I never came across somebody that is slightly taller than me(3 or 4cm) and has the same length tibias ir shorter(always a bit longer), do you think its coincidence?

PS I think that longer tibias give the illusion of being even taller than you actually are and look more esthetically pleasing, wouldn't you agree?

I agree with that, and it's one of the reasons I chose to lengthen tibiae.  The tiny-looking shins and low knees isn't as good a look IMO.

You shouldn't lengthen but you probably will anyway and I can understand it.

If you're only going for 4cm then definitely tibias. It will pass by unnoticeable.

173cm before LL with Sarin, jan -13. Now 180cm tall. Considering 5cm on femurs.
