My starting height is 5'6 (167.5cm) and plans for a lengthening of 8cm on both femur and tibia to reach a final goal of 5'9 (175cm). I'm fine with an even split of 4cm on each or 4.5cm on femur and 3.5cm on tibia. I'm planning to do this consecutively/sequentially and considering applying for a 9 - 12 months sabbatical to focus on recovery before going back to work. Any thoughts?

Why not just do 8cm in femurs and get done with it?

Proportions depends but most people look just fine with 8cm femur.
8cm femur is not over lengthening it. I am more worried with complications that could arise by doing the surgery twice instead of once.

There are more chances of complications from 2 surgeries than lengthening 8cm in femurs. Most people make it fine till 8cm (talking as someone who did and recovered from femur precise).

Fair point. I'm actually looking at Dr. Donghoon Lee's leg lengthening programs. Looks like Dr. Lee does not recommend doing one segment only for any lengthening goal above 8cm. Also from my very rough measurements, my tibia/femur ratio is already roughly at 0.8. I might look funny if I lengthen one segment only. I'm only looking at sequential (not simultaneous) lengthening though. What are some complications that may arise from doing two surgeries consecutively instead of one?

Just go for femur 8cm if you just need 8cm. Other docs have other opinions nothing is set in stone. Most people do 8cm and do fine with it. It might happen that you might stop at 7cm if you feel too tight in that case maybe you'll be happy with 7cm so there's no loss in that. Most femurs can easily handle 7cm.

yes but you should honestly go for more like 13cm it seems you are just wasting your time and money if your going to do 2 segments for 8cm
