4cm limb lengthening femur or tibia
« on: November 08, 2022, 07:55:25 PM »

Hi,
I would like to lengthen only 4cm, however I don’t know if I go for femur or tibia with weight bearing nail. I know that femur is faster that what I want because I don’t have time, but it’s more discomfort I think and if things go wrong femur is more devastating than tibia.

No surgery.
4 cm is not worth it you won’t notice the difference and the surgery and trauma is very extreme and expensive.
Also idk why femur should be more devastating if things go wrong? With tibia more things can potentially go wrong.

No. I say this with certainty because I did the surgery and met a lot of patients and literally everyone experiences that you only start to slowly notice the height increase at around 5 cm. Me included.

People who haven’t done this will never fully understand the trauma this surgery actually puts your body through. This is not a nose job and 4 cm is useless for stature lengthening. We do this to get taller, not to fix leg discrepancies and the surgery is not a joke. Definitely not worth the money time pain misery to get a marginal height boost that can be achieved with minimal shoe insoles as well. The surgery is a trade off, many bad things for one good thing: height increase. And having all the bad things and not really getting a meaningful height increase at the end of the road is ridiculous in my opinion.
And before you say “I want to return to full athletism”. You won’t either magically with 4 or 3 cm. If you want to become an athlete don’t do this at all. Period.

I think a good guy to message might "Height Journey" on this forum because I believe he is possibly intentionally doing only 3.5 cm on tibias (I know its different than 4) -- but he might able to help you decide on your 4cm plan

If you need only 4cm go with tibia it's more comfortable then femur. It my personal experience. Did Lon tibia June 2022 in India.
