Did LON on Tibia 6cm, Recovery Time but I have Nerve pain
« on: November 03, 2022, 10:51:08 AM »

Hello there everyone
So I know I'm very late to this but I did my LL in India. We did LON on Tibia and I ended up achieving a total of 6.5 cms.
My frames were removed around a month back but I had gotten a really bad equines in my left foot so we had to do the achilles tendon surgery after which I started having Crazy nerve pain. Like a lot of burning, pins and needles and especially sensations like Electric Shocks. My doctor gave me Pregabalin and I'm still taking it but I'm taking it only once a day because I don't wanna get addicted to any substance. However, My nerve pain was so bad that I'd cry about it so we did my nerve decompression surgery. After which The 'Electric Shock' sensation stopped but I still have complete numbness in the sole of my foot and I feel pins and needles there, When I touch it with my hand I dont feel anything but I do get nerve pain there.
I Hope I recover completely soon! I've started walking with the aid of the walker and its not so hard to do that however, id like to know has anyone else also experienced this and if yes. when will this completely go away? It's been around 5 weeks since my de-compression surgery.
I appreciate any support!

Hope you feel better man

I'm doing gnail femurs now and I started to get nerve pain in my right shin at around 2-3 cm but now at 4.5cm it is gone (but now I have some nerve pain in my left shin when I stretch my left hip flexors)).

I'm thinking of doing precise 2.2 tibias. What is your advice? Should I stick to 4-5 cm? I get scared when I read posts like this

Same wish from me, hope you recover soon.

I'm having similar symptoms as you have although the electric shock phase has subsided a while ago.
I'm at close to 6cm femur with gnail and my right leg is now constantly, Like 100% of the time in pain. burning sensation, skin hypersensitivity, pins and needles.

The only thing that really helps is stopping the lengthening for a couple of days.

Which is what I've done when I reached 4cm and also 5cm.

In your case, as you're done with lengthening, things should get back to normal soon (or this is what I keep reading, hearing)

Food luck and let us know if you find a solution for your problem.

I had numbness on my left shin and electric shocks going down my leg. It took a year
for it to mostly go away after I stopped lengthening. I still have tiny bit of the numbness. Neurologist prescribed mentanx to help the nerves regenerate themselves and Dr Robbins prescribed gabapentin. I don’t use neither of the prescriptions anymore and don’t have the electric shocks. It was scary and it is common amongst lengthening patients

He wrote that he is crying because of pain.
He said he had LON Tibia from Dr Sarin. It seems they found out who is the patient and make him delete the post.. wow man.. 😱

It is giving off the impression as if Guichet and Sarin are the most aggressive in going after the forum posts

I think Guichet is a great doctor but people who write diaries about him might need to self-censor to avoid Unicorn's fate

It was about more than just pain - it was about non-unuion, nerve damage, loss of function, and rampant unprofessionalism by Sarin's staff.  And about how it might get taken down due to threats from Dr. Sarin.  Very serious and scary stuff.

I was told by their team that 'Should We come there and tell everyone that you were smoking weed and not doing physio' and obviously blaming me for everything.

I'm obviously not letting him ever operate on my legs again
might need to get to paley or lee or someone to fix me.

I'll just say, I'm fked and i'm blamed for it

that's all i'll say

Just don't get this surgery from there

If you are in India why not go to parihar. Also, don't worry about his threats.

What does weed have to do anything with it? Also, India is the worst country to get any type of medical procedure in. Would never do it at any Indian doctor.

Shame on these doctors who threaten their patients.

I traveled to India for vacation and got stomach infection. I was very careful with food and water but still got the bacterial infection. I had to go to gastrologist for many months to get it out of my system. I will not travel to India again and LL is a major surgery with complications. Only go to a reputable doctor or don't do it. Not worth taking the risk with your leg

Yeah I wonder about this. I sort of wonder if Athen's drier climate helps it have less issues than India. In Athens, the only thing I really have to worry about is the bug bites (they get into the hotel room somehow, I've killed a few but they keep coming)

I've started using ice packs to deal with the itching from the bug bites, seems to be working better than anti itch creams

Soft ice pads have just become my go to solution to pain, itchiness, headaches, soreness, etc it just works and doesn't really seem to have any side effects

Oh damn, I never thought about this. Wonder if its a good idea to see a neurologist in the USA after I leave Athens, not sure insurance would help for something like that though to get mentanx

I get some very mild electric shocks in my left hamstring when I fully extend it. I still have mild numbness in my right shin. But luckily my shin nerve pain seems to be decreasing, I only get it when the hip flexors are very stretched

F...K that. Self censorship? We are all free to express what we think. If this dr Sarin believes the patient is misrepresenting him than he can jump in here and write his side of the story.

I think Betz did this once. Other doctors are in here too. And then maybe we find out that the patient was at fault, but...

Guys don't let these pricks scare you. If you are in this situation chances are that you're gonna have to change doctor anyway.

When I was in Athens in the hospital (it was maybe the 3rd day after surgery) dr Giotikas asked me to share my experience so far with a prospective patient that came for a consultation.

His first words to me were like,do you want to share your experience? If so, please give him a fair and true representation of what you think. I'll leave you with the guy so you can talk freely and please, be honest and tell this patient exactly how you think you've been treated, both good and bad.

I appreciated that and the fact that I was in no way pressured to give a biased feedback.

As someone said this operation is like, once you're in, there ain't going back. You need to be followed up by people with some sort of integrity. Yes it is a business for them, but there's moral standards that unfortunately you don't have in certain countries.

Stick to the US and Europe. Yes it is more expensive. Go to work, save up, wait until you can. There's no point in being +8cm and crippled.

I don't think you need Mentanx. My nerve pain was much worse and took a long time to resolve itself. You can try to see if your insurance  covers the prescription and It may help with your nerve pain. I paid cash for mentanx and i think it was around $70 monthly ..Dr Robbins told me that he hasn't seen any nerve irritation not resolving itself with time.

Here is my xray during Lengthening
They knew I was going into Non union.
But according to Dr and his team , 'THE CALLUS STARTS FORMING AFTER LENGTHENING'
BUT i've never heard any other doctor in the world say this.

Can someone tell me what i should do now?
who to go to?
