Average Age For Surgery
« on: October 31, 2022, 10:27:48 PM »

Hey guys, I originally had a consultation with Dr. Paley 8 years ago when I was 20 years old. I didn’t do the surgery then as I was too scared. Now I am 28 and I can’t help but feel like I’ve wasted the past 8 years of my life and basically my whole 20’s by not doing it then. Have basically avoided clubs and been a workaholic as I’ve always felt the need to compensate for my height of 5’4. Worried I missed out on what was supposed to be the best years of my life.

Better now, than never. You're still young.

Even if people on here agree that yes your youth is gone and you spent it being 5'4 what difference does it make? You either get the surgery now or you keep being 5'4.

There is no joy spending ur prime with an unsatisfactory height. If anything it feels like the best years are wasted...

No hard statistics on average age but I would say it's mid 20s - mid 30s as people by then have the monetary means to get the surgery ( the youngest person I know was 23 and oldest in his 60s) I feel you saying " I am too old to get this surgery and the benefit of height - my youth has passed me " is just a passive way of yourself trying to justify that this surgery isn't for you ( at 20, when age wasn't a factor, you probably justified that the surgery is too dangerous and that you didn't want to risk your youth ). For lot of people height is something that will effect you no matter the age ( look at celebrities and how they wear 3 inch shoes ).

I feel in your case really try to figure out if this surgery is right for you. It's a surgery that will take a toll not only your body but your mind as well ( remember once you go under knife you won't be able to go back ).

If you has used these eight years to work on other aspects of your life (which seems to be the case as you said that you had been  workaholic), then you didn't really waste it. A lot of people reach their prime at older age.

I can assure you even at 60 years old that walking into a room taller will be satisfying.  Im 32 and getting this done so I have hopefully 40 good years to get use out of it.

Also the average age that people get married is now over 30 in many places including the US.

Honestly nowadays it’s harder than ever to get your life up and running. Getting a house or nice apartment and a job that pays well enough to save up a decent amount is becoming really difficult. Hell, my grandpa worked at a water treatment plant and was able to buy a house in Santa Cruz near the coast in his mid 20s I believe. Now it’s worth a couple million dollars.

Basically what I’m saying is mens peak seems to be getting later and later. 28 is still young, probably the beginning of most mens peak. I’d say 27-34 is when most men peak right now, but that varies greatly.

I was 39.  Sure, I wasn't young anymore...but when you have true height dysphoria, it never goes away until you do something about it.  When Stryde hit, I knew it was the right time.  Go for it.

I'm doing it at 38. Best decision ever. If you're active and fit, as t this age you still can do so many activities that you're probably doing now. And so many years still to enjoy the new height..

Go for it. As someone said above, this height neurosis does not go away with age. If something, it gets worse.

And as someone else said always above, if you worked on all your other aspects of life, this will be the cherry on the cake that brings it all together. Beast mode unlocked.

Go for it

Im early 30's and getting the surgery next month.  All I have to do is look at my uncle who has obvious height neurosis.  You never grow out of it.

And it definitely gets worse because features that could overcome height (young handsomeness) fade.  What you're left with as you get older is your silhouette.  The pride of being an older man is height and being in shape.

Wears almost platform shoes even his wife is pretending not to notice.  Makes comments on height discrimination.  Timid unconfident mannerisms standing next to people..  Etc.

This man has 2 kids with a beautiful woman and a great marriage.  Still has it.

Hes probably 5 foot 6, maybe a bit shorter like 5'5.

I can tell you if I have kids that I am absolutely having them with a woman 5'7 or taller.  Ready to break this family curse of short insecure men.  My family is full of them despite being awesome otherwise.  Its just a bit depressing.

I went to see my doctor when i was 23... I finally did it at 30. I will finished it when i will be 31. After broking up with my partner, i told myself it is now or never. The best i did, even it is f*cking hard. If you have the money and your work is not gonna be a problem, do it. Evenmore at 20 you certainly didn't have the money. So nothing to regret  ;)
