Hi all, trying to understand whether any of the surgery costs are going to be covered by insurance.
In Dr. Rozbruch case, I understand his fee isn't covered, but what about the hospital fee?

In ShortLivesMatter's diary, he says insurance paid his entire hospital bill. It looks like that might've been the case for other patients as well. Any idea how? Because based on everything I read so far, LL is considered a cosmetic surgery and won't be covered at all

if you have a medical necessity, deformation it would be covered depending how the doctor describes your diagnosis in his report. are you deformed in any way down there?

Not really, but I saw multiple people here saying their insurance covered the hospital bill. They lied? Pretty sure it was cosmetic...

If you are extremely short, some insurance companies will cover it for cosmetic reasons.

Maybe if you are a legitimate dwarf like 4'5.  Otherwise I cant imagine.  My insurance paid nothing for something else I had to deal with which was extremely serious.  The thought they would pay for LL is comical.

That's based on your experience in this forum? Not a lot of Rozbruch patients here so data is really hard to come by.

Got it, thanks for sharing either way. My gut feeling is it's quite "case by case", and with a small sample size - hard to generalize.

Insurance companies wouldn't decide on a case by case basis.  If that's indeed their policy, it applies to every member.

You mean internally they have a rule about it? I'd be surprised but who knows. A few people in this forum mentioned their insurance paid the hospital bill and they weren't that short (including that guy who was like 5'10 but I suspect he had a really good insurance).
