Successor of Stryde Nail
« on: September 28, 2022, 09:28:13 PM »

- Stryde will not come back to market!
- They recently had a FDA meeting
- New nail has similar weight bearing characteristics like Stryde Nail
- First testing in 2023, then soft release
- New weight bearing nail will be availabe at the end of 2023/beginning of 2024 in the US
- Available in Europe in 2025/2026

Given how many delays there have been with nuvasive I would not trust their timeline at all. I would also be sceptical about how good their testing is, how could they release a product that caused corrosion in the first place? What was the testing like for Stryde and how will it be any different for this product?

The prediction of "at the end of 2023/beginning of 2024 in the US" is under the assumption that testing is flawless. But I'm quite skeptical of that.

What are other surgeons claiming?

in a nutshell the release timeline is uncertain, and even nuvasive is not giving any date or even any guesstimate...

thanks!

So right now:

for weight bearing femurs -> we have gnail for weight bearing options, I'm using it now

for weight bearing tibias -> we have no weight bearing options for internals and it might not be available until 2025? I vaguely remember someone saying that there is no gnail for tibias (?). So the non-weight bearing precise 2.2 is the best internal option for tibias for now?

A bit of corrosion can be a huge problem though not always. Osteolysis can occur as a result of the corrosion. I would expect you did femurs not Tibia. Research paper I read on this showed infrequent problems with stryde and femurs but almost always issues for Tibia patients.

If so why they cant bring it back only for femurs now and try to solve the problems with tibia later   ::)
