He passed away from cancer and not necessarily due to limb lengthening. For him the surgery was probably necessary since with his prior height he couldn't do basic stuff like using the kitchen counter, opening doors, etc compared to 80% of the people in this thread thinking getting 6cm taller will magically turn them into chads and help them get laid.

Now you might be thinking " Oh then does LL increase the chance of cancer? ". No, I hardly doubt it and if you don't excessively smoke/drink and/or have a family history of cancer you probably shouldn't worry. Besides rather than thinking about the biological consequence of this surger you should be equally thinking about the financial consequences this surgery can cause ( surgery at a competent hospital can go up to 6 figures for quad-lenghtening + 1 year of your life as someone with barely functioning legs ).

If the surgery following every step carefully, everything should be fine. On the other hand, one may feel more confident after LL because of getting taller, thus living longer... because he could be happier ... depending on the people.

Nathan Yoder died from cancer, not because of the limb lengthening surgery.
https://www.pumphreyfuneralhome.com/obituaries/Nathan-Justin-Yoder?obId=12878030

He started his limb lengthening surgery in 1997 and finished in 2000 or 2001. He died in 2020 at age 38 from cancer, which is 2 decades from his LL surgery.

In 1997 he was 15. I think that's too early for LL. He could grow taller without LL. In the past, is it ok to do LL under 18?

He was an achondroplasia dwarf. Like all achondroplasia dwarfs, their growth is severely stunted and growth plates closed at a very early age. I'm sure Nathan's growth plates were determined to be closed via X-rays, so they could proceed with LL surgery.

That is probably the first time I heard this word, achondroplasia. I checked it on Wikipedia, but still a little bit confused.

Is this caused by having normal torso but short legs? Is cartilage causing it to happen?

for me,  if I don't do it, I think my life will be shorter, because I am not satisified with my situation
