ty!!! So if stryde comes back for tibias, then it should in theory be better than precise 2 because it is weight bearing/should recover faster?

How are you managing with 8.5 nails? You cannot even stand, isn't it? Do you sit on the wheelchair and brush your teeth and shower? How about going to meet the doctor and daily physio? In Mumbai it must be very hard to get around as it is anything but accessible.

I've hired a 24 hours caretaker. He brings a bucket, a brush, and toothpaste to me. I brush my teeth on the bed itself. I use a wheelchair taxi service to go to the hospital. I just stay on the bed and use a wheelchair commode chair to go to the toilet. For the initial 2 weeks, I was  ting on the bed itself on the bed pan.

That sounds tough! This is probably the strictest non-weight-bearing regimen I have known. Perhaps it is warranted for the 8.5mm nails.

And what about the PT? You do it by yourself on the bed?

How are you holding up mentally? Do you have any company other than the caretaker? Do you get a change of scenery other than your room? I encourage you to go out once in a while if possible.

Yeah, mentally it's very tough. I am also getting some breathing issues every once in a while. I do have 2 other guys as housemates other than the caretaker. I don't want to go out man. People stared at me like crazy when I entered the apartment building on a wheelchair. I am doing PT on the bed and I have a peddle cycle as well. Caretakers help with the PT.

Hey overandover, In hindsight do you wish to have done one leg at a time in a staged manner instead of this limitation in mobility? Does DrParihar do unilateral lengthening if you ask him?

He'll if you insist but imo bilateral is still better because doing it staged will take a lot of time. Better to bear 3-4 months of hell instead of 7-8 months of hell. You'll get used to nonweight bearing but man the pain is hell for me. Even ultracet is not working now. I scream in pain every day.

Sorry to hear that man. I am sure it will get better after the 2-3 week mark. That is what I have heard. Is it the stretching kind of pain or broken-bone pain?

How is your sleep?

You are right, unilateral it will take twice the amount of time (not 7-8 months, probably more like 1 year) but is it more bearable "hell"? You can go out once in a while, stand, sleep sideways on the good side and deal with essentially half the pain right?

UniLateral vs BiLateral LL involves multiple factors, eg how helpless/grumpy you want to be and the amount of help you have available - I am currently undergoing unilateral Femoral Precice CLL - I was on a single crutch and able to carry/drag stuff around (including toddlers lol) the day after surgery - so much easier to be independent when you have at least one strong leg (I also use my strong leg to lift my other swollen sore "Sausage" leg out of bed/car/hot bath etc)  - and I will be driving and buying my own groceries etc within a week for sure.

Hi I hope all goes well. What will happen if you lengthen successfully the first leg and then run into problems (i.e infection)  that won't let you reach the same length in the 2nd leg? will you end up with permanent length discrepancy? (or you will need addtional surgery)?

You will have to choose. Live with the discrepancy or get additional surgery.

Ignore the troll. They have posted the same thing in every thread about every doctor.
