What happens if the hospital looses your stuff?
« on: April 11, 2022, 05:08:13 PM »

You travel to a foreign country without informing anyone about LL. You checkin to the hospital and change to the surgery gown. They take your stuff (passport, phone, wallet, money, clothes, hotel/apartment key) and put it somewhere. Operation happens successfully. But you wake up and they have lost your stuff.

You don't have anything with you. What happens then? What would you do as a precautionary measure against this?

I like how you plan ahead. this is very rare that they lose your stuff, bc they bag it and keep it next to you - but do you really need all that stuff in the hospital?

Have one form of idea, copy of your medical cards, stuff, etc

and bring your body.

1- do they really keep your stuff next to you in the operating room? I thought its all kept in a locker or shelf in a storage room.

2- I will keep most stuff in my apartment rental but what but my apartment key will obviously be in this lost bag. usually in such situations we borrow someones phone and inform a friend or family member but I would be in a different country. What would be the right course of action? someone will have to break into my house for me lol

lol have a large rock ready to break a window? joke...

So they will keep it in storage and then bring it next to you in your recovery room.

If you are super paranoid (understandable), get a spare key made. Probably take 1 hour of your day.

yeah Im paranoid. Never have I done anything this serious all alone in life. I get fears of becoming homeless in a foreign country. but to be fair that can happen if I get mugged as well. :)

where would you keep the spare key?

I would keep it with a friend, or have them hold it in the lease office (hotel check desk). Heck make 2 of them *you can afford it* one under the door mat, or give it to 2 contacts. You can make this work bro.

BTW it is great you are considering all these things, builds discipline, and makes you a reliable person.
